Favorite Epcot & Monorail Resorts

Me and my family have decided that we are going again in August 06!! !! BUT, we need your expert advice of course!
We know almost everything except the most important thing, THE RESORT.
We know that we for sure are going to split stay at an Epcot resort and a monorail resort.
What I need from you is your favorite resort at each location and tell why you love it.

!!Thanks For All The Help!!

Re: Favorite Epcot & Monorail Resorts

First, I have to ask if you remember the old commercial for the "All Fruit" spread. In the commerical, a good ol' boy asks this uptight sociality, "Can you please pass the jelly?" and she faints.

I pictured that same scene when you refered to the RESORTS as HOTELS. I must be turning into a Disney snob! ROFL!

I'm too broke to have stayed at any of the resorts you're asking about, but I have visited them. My vote for the Epcot area is the Boardwalk. At night time that place is just magical. You've got a lot of great restaurants on-site (Spoodles, being my favorite). There are street performers along the walk. You can take the boat to both Epcot and the Studios.

As far as a monorail resort goes, I couldn't begin to pick one over the other.

Re: Favorite Epcot & Monorail Resorts

Honestly, resort splits are a hassle. I would pick one on the monorail and stay there for the entire trip. You have access to both MK and Epcot that way...best of both worlds without the hassle of packing up and moving to another resort. If I had to choose, I would say the Polynesian, but if you are looking to save a bit on the cost, go with a garden room at the contrmporary.

Re: Favorite Epcot & Monorail Resorts

We are trying our first monorail resort this year, the Poly, so I cannot comment on those yet. But we have stayed at all the EPCOT resorts and by far like the Yacht and Beach Clubs the best. Why you ask, one big reason, THE POOL. Stormalong Bay is a recreation destination all of it's own. You can still walk over to the Boardwalk at night, as well as the Swan and Dolphin for some dining diversity. But only Yacht and Beach Club guests are allowed to use the pool.

Enjoy ! ! !

After staying at the Contemporary a few times I would hate to have to not stay on the Monorail.......the walk to MK is the best.

And Welcome to DC

I would vote for the Floridian. I haven't stayed there, but we did the character meal there, and just loved everything we saw. Looked like a great view of the MK, especially for the fireworks.

Re: Favorite Epcot & Monorail Resorts

My choice for the Epcot area would be the Beach Club. The main reason would be the pool, since the other Epcot resorts share the same benefits as far as being close to Epcot, The Studios and the Boardwalk.

We have only stayed at the Contemporary on the monorail, but the Poly and of course Grand Floridan look amazing.

Re: Favorite Epcot & Monorail Resorts

Wow Cavey and they call ME resort snob?

Best Epcot Resort is Boardwalk Inn. Beautiful theming, great location, pretty grounds, and less crowded than Beach Club as a general rule.

Best monorail resort? Grand Floridian, of course!

Re: Favorite Epcot & Monorail Resorts

EPCOT - Beach Club - pool, DVC, 5 minute walk to EPCOT, 20 minute walk or boat to MGM Studio's
Monorail - Contemporary - 5 minute walk to MK.

My choices are transportation based, mostly. I don't like waiting for busses and boats, ESPECIALLY at the end of the night when they are packed (usually, my 5 and 7 year olds fall asleep on the bus ride back to the resort...not much fun if you don't have a seat. We bring our own stroller to the "walkable" resorts.

Re: Favorite Epcot & Monorail Resorts

TINYDIZ -- I agree with Dana -- it is tough to move to a new resort in the middle of a vacation -- so much valuable time!

I have some questions! What are your children? How old are they? Unless your kids are small, I would choose an Epcot resort instead and here's why: you can walk into the International Gateway of Epcot (especially nice at night after fireworks), plus you have boat service to MGM. And the bus stop at MK is just as close to the gates as the monorail station, making bus service just as attractive. If you like night life, Boardwalk area is really nice.

The pool at Beach Club/Yacht Club is fabulous, but the Keister Coaster (the slide at Boardwalk) is phenomenal too.

If you choose a monorail hotel, I think Poly is so beautiful! And it has a really neat pool. I have never stayed there, but the tropical theming is so vacaion-y, and the torches at night look so great!

Re: Favorite Epcot & Monorail Resorts

to be honest given half the chance and if funds were not an issue I woud do my whole stay at the Poly. It is the most beautiful resort and having the monorail on your 'front door' so to speak is just the best for comfort and ease. Having said that, If you have definately decided that the 'split' is really what you guys want to do then I would go for the Poly and POR.
