Home Away from Home Resorts
We want to stay at one of the Home Away from Home Resorts (2 bedroom villa) for a week at the beginning of November 2003 and are Disney Club members. I have been told that I can't make a reservation until after the Vacation Club members have had a chance (which is understandable) and have to wait at least six months. However, I don't want to lose out on a reservation either. Is there a better way to get a reservation? Better rates? Also, any recommendations as to which one is "best"? We have not stayed at a Deluxe or Home Away from Home resort in the past. Help! :dazed

Hi, TerryW531!
You may want to consider a suggestion posted last year ;) (Dec. 30th) You can find the info here: http://www.disneycentral.com/forum/s...&threadid=2241 DVC owners who rent their points can make their reservations early and, I believe that if you rent from an owner, it costs less than if you rent directly from WDW. You will receive all the same benefits either way.

Terry, welcome to DisneyCentral. Yes, what you are told is correct, though I don't think you have to wait as long as you think. I can book rooms at all the Villa resorts right now thorugh the end of October and a little into November, so I would guess that you will be able to book those rooms pretty quickly here. As an owner, you can book at your home resort 11 months out and at other resorts 7 months out, but it looks like Disney releases some rooms for rent 11 months out.
You can also take Lopo's suggestion and try renting some points.

Thanks for the info. (from both of you). It is appreciated. I checked out the rent/trade website and will have to look into it further to see how many points I will need, etc. I have a friend in the DVC. Does that mean I could, as an option, have her make the reservation now for November and then just pay her (if she's willing to do it)?
Thanks, again! Terry P.S. Love this website! :D |

We stayed in a 2 bed-room villa at the WL in Nov. It was AWSOME and I'd recommend it highly. Great service, good location near MK, everthing was wonderful.
I also wanted to book my Nov. vacation the previous Feb. and was told by central booking that it was too soon. To call back in a couple of months. Not wanting to risk losing our dates I phoned a local travel agent who specializes in DW and they were able to get us a room no problem. I don't know why they could and we couldn't but it worked and I still got my DC discount.
