Dolphin Concierge
Does anyone have any info on the Dolphin Concierge (Club) level that they would be willing to share.
Using the teacher discount, I have booked this for $199/night :wow: in June (vs teacher price of $129 for a standard room). Is it worth the extra money? ![]() Basically, I understand drinks and breakfasts are included (2 adults, 2 kids), but are the rooms nicer/larger, etc. Also, is the Dolphin concierge better/worse than the Swan concierge. Is there anything I should request? Any advice would be appreciated. |

OK, I borrowed this from wdwig for you. Sounds like it is probably worth the extra money.
Concierge service at the Dolphin is referred to as the Club Level. Concierge accommodations are located on the 12th and 14th floors of the tower. The rooms are more spacious than average rooms and also more lavishly decorated. Guests enjoy the use of the Tower Lounge , which is exclusively for concierge patrons. The Tower Lounge provides an excellent viewing spot for evening fireworks. Breakfast and hors d' oeuvres are served daily. Guests will receive a complimentary gift shortly after check-in and use of the wonderfully plush Dolphin bathrobes. Of course, the concierge staff is available to help you with just about any need or desire. Additional services, facilities, and amenities at the Dolphin. In addition to deluxe accommodations, the Dolphin also offers special extras that make your stay a real pleasure. These include: valet parking, valet and laundry service, concierge desk, bell service, hair salon, 24 hour room service, laundry facilities on the 1st floor, premium movie and Disney channels, pay-per-view movies, and an in-room video game system. Nightly turn down service is also offered upon request.

Hold up, there is a teacher discount??
OMG... I had no idea there was a teacher discount! My mom works for the school district here as a lab manager, would that count or do you have to be an actual certified teacher OR does it apply to all school employees??
Does anyone know?? Is it for certain time periods or resorts?? HELP!!! |

Here is the official information, you may want to call the number listed if you have a questions about availability:
Government employees (federal, state and local), active duty military, registered nurses and school teachers qualify for great rates at the Swan and Dolphin -- usually lower than the Annual Passholder or Entertainment Book rate. The nurse and teacher rates are $129, subject to availability, and the government rate is similar. You must book the military, teacher and nurse rates directly through the hotel at (800) 227-1500. However, the government rate can be booked online through Travelocity or Starwood. I don't believe that there have been any school teacher discounts at other Disney resorts. There is currently a good Military discount, but that is about it.

When I spoke with Starwood, they indicated you need to have 2 things at check in. 1) A copy of your teacher certification or other proof you are a teacher (not just work for a school system) and 2) a current pay stub.
Does anyone have a preference of Swan Club vs Dolphin Club? Is there a view I should ask for? Anything else? RAMBLE BEGIN - I do like the idea of a hotel offering a discount for teachers - kind of recognizing an honorable but lower paying profession. I wish Disney would do it - it changed my mind from a "Disney" or off-premise park. Are you listening M. Eisner???? I was going to go for the cheapest rate at $129 for the whatever view (they also had balcony standard for $174 and another rate around $155 for a preferred view). If I have to sleep with the kids in the room, I at least want a free drink Also got the Lincoln Town Car limo service through the hotel roundtrip for $107 (tax included) for 4 of us. Seemed not too bad. I figure breakfast alone will save me $30/day or more for all of us and a drink (or 2) $10 so I was looking at the extra $30 as a nicer room and, hopefully, a little quieter with better attention. You also get free bottled water to take to the parks. Trying not to be too cheap of a husband - still want to go to Vegas - so might as well splurge some. RAMBLE END |
