We have to ride in the front of the Monorail. It's a total blast, especially at night.

MickeyMack,

I would love to be able to ride in the front of the monorail. MY son ABSOLUTLY LOVES the MONORAIL. In fact he made us get on one night and ride it around 5 times. He loves it! I would love to take him in the front as a surpise. How many people can ride up front? The reason I asked is we will be a party of 5 so I want to make sure everyone can ride. Do you have a certain place that you can get in the front or can you get on at any time?

Thanks for the information!
:) :) :) :heart :) :)

My wife & I have ridden several times. I believe the limit is 4 but I could be wrong. All you have to do is ask the monorail CM's if you can ride in front. There is usually one close to the front of the train. Good Luck!!!:dazed

We have 3 (technically 4) must-dos when at WDW.
1. Walk the circumference of Barefoot Bay at Caribbean Beach
2. Dinner at Akershus and the Poly Luau: Puts us in touch with our
respective heritage. He's Norwegian & my mom is Tahitian.
3. Hot fudge sundae at Ghiradellis before we turn in on our last
night there. :)

I definitely have to grab one of those Starboarder Sandwiches from the Harbour House in MK. Nothing beats that ham sandwich on olive loaf with brocolli slaw and muenster cheese! It sounds horrible when you describe, but it tastes so good!

Stitchie,

Yes, there is a special place to ride in front. When you get up to the loading area, ask the CM if you can ride up front with the pilot. If they say "no" ask if you can wait for the next train.

If you are staying at a monorail resort, each resort has it's own train. If you get to the front and ask the CM at your resort, and there is a family all ready in the cockpit of your resort's train, then they have to vacate it for you. Does that make any sense?

Only four are supposed to sit up front, but I've seen several families of five (2 adults, 3 kids) up front. It's very spacious.

also, privately ask the Pilot of the kids will earn their 'licenses' on that trip. They go in and out of stock so incredibly often - don't be disappointed if they don't. Just try again. :D :D

You MUST go at night, too - it's heavenly.

:wow: I didn't even know riding up front was possible until I found this site. Would my 2 year old enjoy this? Or how about 2 men who are hard to impress??

Your two year old will love it. My daughter (a bit older and wiser at 5) rode backwards in the seat looking out over the tracks. There is nothing between you and the sky and the rail but a piece of plexiglass. It's truly an amazing sight.

2 guys, huh? They get to talk to the pilot (always an amazing conversation to listen to) and find out what the most common item they find on the track is.. how fast the monorail goes... how long they go for training... how many of them were former engineers... I've got one of those hard-to-impressers too, and he was duly impressed (we went during the day, and I took him through Epcot again at night - it's very neat looking over all the countries at night. Got some great digital photos, too, just turn off your flash)

...but the most important thing they will be impressed by is how YOU knew how to get them on board up there. :D :D Work THAT one!

Broken record Bantam here,

Remember there are Hey Rides and Campfire sing alongs at Fort Wilderness. Nothing like old fasion s'mores and singing about the wonderful thing about tiggers...

Ask 'em to let you drive the hey wagon! Now That's special.

Have a fabulous trip. I can't wait to read your trip report. Your posts are always so entertaining! So are your inlaws still going with the family?
Sorry to stray from the topic of this post...I always have to ride the transit authority before leaving and take a photo of my DD in the same spot while on the ride. I know.. no big deal but it's just what we do. I think it is all the little things you do that make traditions special.

Chicken's reconnoiter Fort Wilderness. (an update)

(Repost for Dab)

Team Bantam will be going to Fort Wilderness soon. And for those who may have been following along, there has been a tumultuous up-crow concerning my next of fowl-kin a pickin' on Ol' Phantom's breadpan.

Well, the worries are over. Granddad and Grandma Bantam cannot make the trip, and neither can Mrs. Bantam's sister's family.

You see, a wedding, prolly a shotgun type, is hapnin' in the Low Country during our expected period of Freerangin' with the round eared rodent. There was to be a general blow off of the matrimonial stomp festivatin' in lieu of the trip until the Sister of Mrs. Bantam got promoted to the head chief in charge of the matrimonial maid parade.

Now between you and me, I don't understand such short notice field promotions outside a war or a really good parking spot when its raining... but if the friendship can shift from "skip it" to, "I beez the anchor leg in the party" can change at the last moment... then so be it.

I'm certainly not going to even try to change her mind. Especially since the less than tacky request of chicksittin' privileges being offer to me under the circumstances of; "take my hawk in chicken clothing (nephew) with you to DW and bring him back".... Folks, let me tell ya that request was squashed flatter than a slow possum tryin' to cross I-95 by no other than the "It'll be like a Family reunion" Mrs. Phantom Bantam. I can feel my chest just a pounding with spousal pride.

Then as if a a burst of miraculous light had fallen on my side of the hen house, the Grand Bantams stepped in after much debate to be the chick watchers for the holiday

Yall, please don't think poorly of my character that I rejoice in the change of luck that crash landed in the coop before me. But I did want it to be a bit more my vacation than everybody else's. Its my Chick's first trip and I want it to be 3...Its a magic number.

PhantomBantam I'm happy for you. I know it must be a huge relief. It is wonderful to get together with family and extended family vacations can be lots of fun but your little chick will have such a magical trip with just Daddy & Mommy! Enjoy yourselves!! Thanks for the smiles I got this morning reading your post. I'm getting used to you now and I can understand it without re-reading 2 or 3 times!! Oh no :nooo: is that a bad thing!! :laugh
