Where to stay!?

We have been to Disney several times in the past, but always in addition to a Beach vacation. This year we plan to stay in the park for 7 days with 12, 8, and 1 year old children. Which Moderate Resort would be our best choice?

I'm assuming you're a party of 5. If so, Port Orleans may be best because they offer rooms that sleep 5. It'll save you a few dollars instead of doing two rooms. :)

Amethyst~

Do you know if both sections of Port Orleans (Riverside and French Quarter) have rooms that sleep five?

Per WDWIG.com, Alligator Bayou rooms at Port Orleans Riverside have a trundle bed for a child which will allow for 5 per room.

Could not find anything for 5 at Port Orleans French Quarter.

Thats correct. I asked about the trundle beds and the only ones are at Port Orleans Riverside in the Alligator Bayou rooms.

I'm staying at POR for the first time in a couple of weeks and I'll post my report on that later. I've stayed at Caribbean Beach and it was nice. The thing that might appeal to you there is that they do have small beaches. The feature pool is fun too... a little smaller than I expected but the slide was great for my daughter. They completely redid the food court area so that too would be a plus. I don't think I would stay at Coronado Springs... it's just too far away from the parks to me!

We are exactly the same way, this is our first stay on site. We always just drove over from Daytona for the day before. We decided on Caribbean Beach because of the beach theme. YOU CAN have 5 in the room as long as the 5th person is under 3 (per my travel agent who checked with WDW). If you like the beach I would go for this resort personnally.

If you want to keep some of the Beach in your trip, go to Caribbean Beach Resort, they have five person rooms and some nice beach areas, plus lots of other fun things. Since they have been updated and upgraded so much recently, it should be very enjoyable IMHO. :D

LOL, did that go through your spell checker ok?

One other option would be to move up to a deluxe resort. Wilderness Lodge isn't going to be much more than Riverside with a trundle, and it has two queen beds and a day bed.

...Musta been a feather, Mickey...

The cabins have three separate rooms, parking 10 feet from your door, and a full kitchen. Its not the parks that get you its the eating out every meal!!!!

Times 5!!!!!

Disney transportation cant beat your own. Unless you are staying at a monorail resort and even then an hour travel time can be expected as advised by Disney themselves.

Hmm :hmmm Mickey... I didn't think Wilderness Lodge had day beds. I've never stayed there because on the Disney website it doesn't specify them like it does for the other deluxe resorts.

Oops, totally messed up on that one. Yes, you are right. I was trying to do three things at once, and I ended up doing all fo them wrong. All of the deluxe resorts sleep 5, except for Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Of course, they do have suites there that will sleep 5, but that is going to be more money.

POR is probably your best bet. I will be a little cramp at night but the place is very family friendly and the bus stops are not bad if you stay in the Bayou. There is where the trundle bed are at. The buses are very regular at approx every 15 mins except at the 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM when there is a shift change over. The kids will love the pool and the boat ride down to the village. The only problem I every found was the walk to the dining area can be long depending on what lodge you are at. As k for 14, 15 or 18 and you will be close to the main area and food court and not very far from Old Man Island pool area.

I favor the Caribbean Beach myself, absolutely love it, and would spend the extra money for an adjoining room considering the ages of the children involved, I'd put the 12 and 8 year old together. I don't like Port Orleans too much and definitely didn't like Coronado Springs because it was just too far away for me. Based on the size of the rooms at CBRs I think I'd feel a little cramped with 5 even with an infant.

I couldn't find anything for French Quarter sleeping 5 either but I'll keep looking. :)

Only doing 3 things at once Mickey... was it a slow day? LOL :D :laugh Even the Mouse himself is entitled to a slip up once in a while... Just don't let it happen again :p
You're right about WL being more comfortable for a family of 5... even if it doesn't have a day bed. There is a pretty big difference in a full and queen size bed. Especially when 2 teenagers get territorial!!

By the way Lisa, when are you going? You may want to add your countdown to your signature. See the link on Mickey's signature for step by step directions.
