Poly concierge
I am planning on staying at the Poly this summer and I am debating concierge level, considering that the concierge section will be under renovation.
Does anyone know the answers to the following: When does construction start? What will the temporary lounge be like and where located? Where will concierge rooms be? I am new to the forum - thanks in advance for your help. Ohio Minnie |

Ohiominnie welcome! You picked my favoirte resort and the Concierge service there can't be beat. It is great that they are going to refurbish the longhouse but I understand the difficulty you must be having with your decision. I went in Sept. and found my trip report ... thought you might find it helpful.
http://www.disneycentral.com/forum/s...sian+concierge Staying in a concierge room is great for so many reasons... the level of service, the ease of check in, the convenience of the lounge and the prime location. With them moving service to Tahiti you really lose the benefit of the location. Hawaii is so close to everything - the main pool & quiet pool and Great Ceremonial House. Tahiti is close to the walkway to Transportation & Ticket Center so it would be easy to walk to catch the monorail to MK or Epcot but it is a bit farther from the pools and Great Ceremonial House. Like Hawaii, Tahiti is on the beach so you wouldn't miss much there and the rooms should be the same. The only difference in a Concierge level room is the mini frig and bath robes. Everything else about the rooms is the same. About the lounge... if they will have a smaller lounge and you are going during a busy season you might have a problem finding a place to eat. We were there during a very slow time and the lounge was pretty empty. We were told that during busier seasons people had to wait for tables or take food to their room. Are they offering any discount on the regular Concierge room rate? I don't think I would stay concierge and pay that much more for a room considering the location change. It's a tough decision. If you don't mind the walk to the pools and restaurants then it may not be a problem for you. One more site for you to look at that has tons of info. on the Polynesian... www.tikiman2001.homestead.com. It has all the details on the rehabs going on.
