booking resort stay

i have heard that you have to be very firm when you call the 800 # not to get pressured into a pkg. as they are really aggressive!! it that true????? please share you positive and negative experiences with booking your resort stay. i am just under the impression i need to be prepared to be annoyed with the booking agent and be a little bit more intense than i am comfortable with. (i have it in me to kinda loose it a bit (irish temper) if someone keeps hasseling me...would rather not got here if i can avoid it!! )
~thanks

Re: booking resort stay

Disney aggressive? I have never heard that before. they are instructed to offer you the package, but I don't think they will pressure you into anything you don't want to do. A simple " no thank you" should work just fine.

good...glad to know i was misinformed. i hoped that it was an issolated insident that my friend had. (she is a bit dramatic, so maybe she percieved it all as very aggressive, when it was not.)

Re: booking resort stay

I called just last night and wasn't pressured into anything. The CM asked me if I wanted the dining plan or any tickets, I said no I just wanted a room only reservation and he said great and we moved on. I think it's nice that they give you options when you call because not everyone knows as much about WDW as DC members. I have book trips the last 4 summers and have never once felt any pressure to book a package.

i am sure they ask you if you have any room requests and they make notes? do you make it a practice to call back later (days) to verify the room requests have been noted?
~thanks

Re: booking resort stay

I don't call and check on room requests but I do double check our ADRs and the room in general. I wasn't asked about any special room requests--not even smoking or non smoking, I had to ask about that. The CM did put the birthday stuff in on his own once I told him about Nate's birthday.

You should definately call back and make sure the preferences were noted and then call a few weeks before your trip to check on everything. Always check ADR times and places, and always check resort information while there is enough time to correct and issues. I usually do this about 2-3 weeks before I leave.

Re: booking resort stay

I've never felt pressured. The CM will probably offer tickets and dining as a suggestion, but no pressure.

BTW, I LOVE finding reasons to call Disney in planning trips. Most of the times CM's are great. The only problems I've ever had is if the CM is too quiet or if an accent is too strong for me to understand (I'm slightly hard of hearing and need to see lips moving in those situations.). In those cases, I politely end the conversation and call back. There are so many CM's working the phones it's highly improbable you'd get the same person.

Oh, I also hate it when a CM doesn't know what they're talking about. In booking an ADR at Chef Mickey's the CM insisted there is no boat between FW & the Contemporary--even after I told him I've ridden it. In the end, I just said something like, "Well, we can just drive" to end the conversation.

ADR = Advanced dining reservation.

You should make these for any character meals or table service restaurants you have your heart set on. Call WDW-DINE to make them.

Re: booking resort stay

There is a toll free number-- 1-877-939-3732 or 1-800-828-0228. I used the first one last night and I'm glad I did, it took over 40 minutes to book my room and ADRs.

Re: booking resort stay

I never call the 407 area codes anymore. Why should you when there are toll-free numbers out there?
