Resort Blues
My wife and I have reserved, with a down payment, a Disney World trip through AAA. It is for August 20-27 with seven nights at the Wilderness Lodge and 7 day hopper pass with the dinning package for two adults. Ok here is my question, what are my options for upgrading to a resort on the monorail system, Contemporary, Polynesian or Grand Floridian(a bit to expensive for us)? Who's the best person to contact? If this is possible, how much more would it cost us to have the same exact package and dates but just at a different resort? My wife has never been to Disney World so I'm thinking of changing resorts just for the overall experience for her. Thank you very much for your time and help.

Re: Resort Blues
Hey, I am going to be there August 19th-26th!!!!
Actually it is REALLY easy!!! I usually just call the regular Disney reservations line, or call the number on your reservation papers. We actually went from ORIGINALLY staying at the Contemporary for those dates then switched to Wilderness Lodge concierge. It was so easy, they just made the new reservation and switched over the money to the new one. THEN, I went and joined the DVC so I had to cancel the WL one and they sent me a refund check. Now I am staying at BWV, haha. Don't worry, they really take care of you over in reservations.

Re: Resort Blues
I think your first call should be to triple A? (Not sure, thus the girly-questioning-raising of the voice at the end of that sentence.)

Re: Resort Blues
AAA, since they originally booked the trip for you, should be the folks to call. But, not for nothing, Wilderness Lodge is absolutely wonderful. I'd be thrilled staying there if I were your wife... .

Re: Resort Blues
I completely argee about the WL, it is wonderful, but a resort on the monorail system seems like the ideal DW vacation. My wife is awesome and I want her to fully and totally get the DW treatment. I know she would absolutely flip over the monorail. As far as calling back AAA, I've been trying to avoid that option just because I don't have much faith in them. They kind of left a bad taste in my mouth when I left the office. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

Re: Resort Blues
I'm not really sure if you can get around AAA since they booked the trip for you.
As far as the Monorail resorts, I belive that the Contemporary would be the cheapest if you book one of their garden rooms, not in te tower. Good Luck!!

Re: Resort Blues
I think you better talk to AAA first.
But I wanted to also mention that it is a several-hours long event to change resorts int he middle of a trip... is that what you were thinking of? You might be better served to stay at one resort and then check out the other ones by making reservations to eat at them... then you can give yourself plenty of time to walk arund and explore before dinner!

Re: Resort Blues
if you book a reservation through Disney reservations and you have one of their discount codes- you cannot switch hotels. You can switch the dates, but not the hotel. I tried this for our upcoming trip, but I can't switch it! I don't know how this applies to AAA though...

Re: Resort Blues
Oh maybe you just meant to switch to a monorail resort for the entire trip? Sorry, my mistake... anyway, I can tell you that everyone on this board who has stayed at WL has reported that they LOVE it! So if you can't make the changes, you will probably LOVE IT TOO! Have a great trip!

Re: Resort Blues
I kow that we will enjoy ourselves no matter where we stay but a resort on the monorail provides a very distinct "Disney" feel. Yes I'm planning on changing the reservation for the entire stay at DW. I just didn't know if maybe someone has tried to book a vacation through AAA then called WDW to change or modify the reservation with any luck. I was hoping to be able to do it for an additional $50 a night added(give or take obviously-I'm not the specific). Am I talking crazy or does this seem resonable.
