Yes there is a beach. You can play in the sand, but we were told you can not get in the water.

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

You can't swim in the lake. They have beach areas with hamocks and chair that you can go and sit at or kids can play in the sand.

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

The lake is beautiful to look at, but you can tell when you get close that it's definitely not a swimming lake!

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

The Carribbean Beach main pool is very cool. Pirates - avast maties, arghhh!

And the hammocks on the beach are great for relaxing in at night.

But, sorry, no swimming in the lake.

No swimming in any lakes, rivers, streams, lagoons, ponds, etc. at WDW.

Just pools. Even the ducks swim in the pools. Last time we were at the Beach Club, we had two ducks who swam in one of the quiet pools all day and switched to the hot tub at night, when it got chilly.

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

I'm just about 100% sold on CBR, I can't wait to check out the hammocks. Even if there isn't any swimming in the lake I'm looking forward to experiencing this resort.

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

While we were relaxing on the hammocks on the beach, a number of families passing by were having a heck of a time explaining to their kids why they couldn't go into the water. The kids just couldn't understand why they couldn't "splash" in the lake, creating a stressful moment for the family, and for us having to listen to it. It may be beneficial for families to pre-warn their kids that they can't go into the lake, preventing some stress in their vacation.

That's so funny! I love when the ducks swim in the WDW pools--they're so cute to watch! I've seen them swimming in the pools at just about every resort we've stayed at. They just mind their own business and wonder what all these people are doing in their pool!

They're so funny, aren't they? The ones at OKW are so spoiled! They waddle up to your patio every morning and quack until they get fed. I always buy a loaf of bread, just for them. Then they waddle off to the shade and relax all afternoon. Nice life.

Rule of thumb while in Florida....where there is water, there is a possible gator. Swimming in the water is not a good idea anywhere in WDW. I know how paranoid that sounds, but I have seen one to many gators while there to even want to go near that water. They are adorable from a distance how ever..lol

Dana, even within WDW??? I would image they really make sure there are no gators in the water.

You never know, they can creep in anywhere. There was a canal behind my house is SoFla and even though there had never been a gator in there before. One came into the canal and hurt our neighbors dog.

Yup, even within. I saw one in the water on the Frontierland side of that little river going around Tom Sawyer's Island. They had a CM standing by to make sure no one got too close, and I assume to watch where the thing went. It was pretty little and didn't seem to care about anything but sunbathing.
