AAA Booking question
We are members of AAA. I have called Disney directly and gotton a quote and since we want to do the Meal Plan we can't get the AAA rate from them and still add the Meal Plan (to get the rate we would have to do a room only and that negates us from being able to get the Meal Plan). I also contacted a recommended online travel agency and they said the same thing, could only do the AAA as a room only. Finally I contacted AAA and they are able to do the discounted rate and also add the Meal Plan and the Tickets.
Since it is looking like a $400 ish savings I think I need to book with AAA but I just wanted to confirm this all sounded right. To get an AAA discount AND add on the Tickets and Disney Meal Plan do you have to book directly through AAA? Sorry if its a dumb question! Allyson |

Re: AAA Booking question
That's sounds right, I've read AAA is the only discount you can get with the dining plan right now.

Re: AAA Booking question
Okay thanks! And one more question, I know I am full of them today! I know with the online travel agency I would do a deposit and then full payment would be due something like 45 days before. I like that since we'll be able to pay some monthly towards this. Any idea if it is the same way if you book with AAA? I am planning to call them later to ask but they aren't open yet and just thought someone here might know!

Re: AAA Booking question
As far as I know, any package you book needs to be paid in full 45 days out. A room only reservation can be paid at check in.

Re: AAA Booking question
Welcome to DC.
We looked into AAA for our last trip. They were not able to get us a better deal than we could get ourselves. We were told that we would have to pay a $200 deposit and have the trip paid off 45 days out, just as if we went through Disney. One thing to think about, and it may be no big deal. If a new deal or promotion comes up, you have to contact AAA directly and have them try and apply the deal to your package. You can not call Disney yourself. Be sure to ask AAA about the diamond parking pass and other specials available to members who book through AAA.

Re: AAA Booking question
I like going through AAA because I get the 10% discount at World of Disney card. And lord knows I use it!

Re: AAA Booking question
Yes, for some strange reason that no one can explain to me, travel agents and general public can get a discount on room only reservations with AAA, but you can only get a AAA discount on package if you go directly through AAA. With Disney pushing packages more and more, and the cost of AAA membership inexpensive, either Disney needs to do away with this discount or let everyone book it. If you look at it from my point of view, as a Disney only travel agent, I can't get the best deals most of the year. So, people contact me, and I give them a price, but AAA can beat it by $400, but everyone else except AAA has the exact same price. So, then no one contacts me at all, since they can save $400 eslewhere. Totally stupid, asinine rule.
asinine: adjective - marked by inexcusable failure to exercise intelligence or sound judgment OK, off my soapbox. I have lobbied for this rule change for years, and no one at Disney seems to want to change it.
