Okay. The decision seems obvious, right? Wrong!
We LOVE Coronado Springs and haven't stayed there in a while. We got a great AP rate and were really looking forward to settling into some hammocks with a couple of frozen margaritas. BUT... When I called to book the AP rate, I just happened to ask if there were any rates available at WL or AKL. WL just had the courtyard view--too expensive. But AKL had a pool view rate available that didn't sound quite so bad. We loved AKL when we stayed there before, but we had a savanna view and this time around we'd have a pool view. Also, we have a WDW rookie traveling with us--which resort do you think would appeal to her more? The distances from the parks to both resorts is about the same, and we'd have to take busses to all parks regardless of where we stay. We love both resorts equally for different reasons and just can't make the decision! What would you do, my DC friends ???

Re: CSR or AKL?
Based having a WDW rookie with with you, I have to say AKL.
Even though it's a pool view, where else can you have all those animals right at your resort.

Re: CSR or AKL?
I'd go AKL. I LOVE AKL. Plus, the pool view at AKL is not so bad. It's actually really pretty and quiet too. And since you've stayed at CSR before, it would be cool to check out a new place...

Re: CSR or AKL?
Well my answer is simply because I don't like the theming of CSR so I pick AKL. I do think AKL is very dark inside though.

Re: CSR or AKL?
AKL would be my choice. And - who knows - you might get an upgrade to a Savanna room.

Re: CSR or AKL?
You guys are thinking like I am, then. Erin, I totally hear you about being die-hard CSR in this type of question--I just love that resort and usually can't see spending extra money when you'd be just as happy in the less expensive resort. But with the rookie coming along, and with my mom never having stayed at AKL, I'm leaning toward AKL. It's such a majestic resort, and those beautiful animals are so amazing to watch.
So you guys don't think that the pool view will be a hindrance to our enjoying the resort?

Re: CSR or AKL?
It's hard to compare them because AKL is a deluxe and CSR is a moderate thus the rooms are different and the atmoshere is also different. Joe

Re: CSR or AKL?
The lobby of the AKL is so amazing, but I stayed in a pool-view room and I found it to be very dark on the inside - I didn't love the room. I think I would go with CSR, but visit AKL and eat at Boma (yummy!). Good Luck deciding!

Re: CSR or AKL?
Oh, I would stay at AKL, no question! We didn't have a very good experience with CSR so I really could not recommend it. AKL was just out of this world.

Re: CSR or AKL?
Ah! Finally, since I've stayed at both resorts I can definitely say AKL hands down. While I didn't not like CSR, frankly I do not think that I would return. Since the resort caters to conventioneers, I think that it is not a good choice for someone simply on vacation. Another thing, isn't CSR a "moderate" and AKL a "deluxe" resort? I do think that AKL IS deluxe. I found that our room at CSR was dated and slightly shabby (!)

Re: CSR or AKL?
Bali, I am going to be honest about the pool view. I have been in a "pool view" room twice and because the trees around the pool area have grown so much and grown so bushy since the resort opening our pool views were actually tree views. I don't know, we could have been unfortunate twice BUT the only time were we ESTATIC about the view at AKL was when we had the Safari View.
It's my absolute FAVORITE resort and i TOTALLY vote for you to stay there but I am not sure I would shell out for a "pool view" again unless I was going all the way for safari. Whatever you decide it will be GREAT!

Re: CSR or AKL?
I hope you don't mind me voting
![]() I haven't seen either, lol, so my perspective is different, but it seems to me that AKL has a major WOW factor that CSR doesn't have. Don't get me wrong, I think CSR looks beautiful and it does appeal to me somewhat, but the atmosphere, the grounds, the animals and the dining all seem unique and simply wonderful at AKL.

Re: CSR or AKL?
My vote is AKL. We brought my Mom to Disney for the first time in her life last year. Seeing I knew it would probably be the first and only time she would visit WDW, I wanted it to be memorable for her. She still talks about the lobby to everyone, a year later! I don't think CSR would have the same affect.
