New Member Needing Help About Which Resort to Stay at
Hello everyone! I am new to this board and the whole Disney experience and in needs of help and suggestions. Dh, I, and our 2 daughters 4 & 7 are planning a trip for 8 days at the end of June. We have never been to Disney World and are very excited for our daughters to experience Disney. From reading the posts here you all seem to be the Disney experts, so I'm hoping you can help.
I guess my main question is which resort would be best to stay at? I would prefer a moderate or better. I'm guessing we would be spending alot of time at Magic Kingdom but the girls also want to go to Epcot and Animal Kingdom. And any other ideas on any must see things or things to do that 4 and 7 year old girls would enjoy? Thanks so much in advance for your help! Tracy |

Re: New Member Needing Help About Which Resort to Stay at
WELCOME TO DC!!!!!
I have only ever staed in Value and Moderate, but we were at Port Orleans French Quarter in January, and the kids (son 8 and Daughter 5) loved it! They loved the pool!! Things not to miss---I am assuming they are into the Princesses, my Daughter never missed 1. The little Mermaid show in MGM 2. The Beauty and the Beast stage show at MGM 3. Hunting for the princesses at Epcot (Belle is at France, Jasmine is at Morocco, Mulan is in China, etc.... 4. Ariel's Grotto (although we did not get a chance to do that this year.) 5. The Lion King Show in the Animal Kingdom (no princesses, but she and my DS love it!) Both of my kids are also daredevils, so we do Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, and are DYING to get on Expedition Everest next year. Enjoy the planning!!

Welcome to DC. My friends here are awesome planners. Let me suggest you look at the Beach Club resort. They have a great location (you can walk to Epcot), but the pool will thrill your little ones. This, of course gives you time to relax also.
The Ice Cream shoppe is a killer, too.

I would sugguest going to this site and checking out some pictures of the resorts. http://www.allearsnet.com/
I really enjoy certain theming more than others. You can narrow down what looks fun to you. At Disney you really can't go wrong.

Welcome!!! Let see....If you are thinking moderate...I would really like Port Orleans Riverside...We've always had great luck with service, room location and bus service too.
If you think you can swing a deluxe resort...and MK is your primary focus....Then I'd say something on the Monorail line would work really well!

Welcome to DC. Try Port Orleans French Quarter. I just stayed there in October and loved it. I have stayed at quite a few different resorts and have to say that the service I received there was by far the best. The resort in small in size so there is no hike to your room. I loved the whole set up over there and was overly pleased with the rooms itself. It's not a deluxe by price, but they definately run with deluxe service and standards.

Welcome!
Really, resorts are such a personal choice. Everyone has their favorite, for many different reasons. I think that the kids will love just about anything! If your budget allows, staying on the monorail line is really neat. I have stayed at a resort on pretty much all three levels and I loved them all. Look at what appeals to you and what might appeal to them. Good luck and have fun!

Re: New Member Needing Help About Which Resort to Stay at
Tracy, Welcome to DC! I love Wildnerness Lodge, but I agree mlsexton, it really is a personal choice. If they love animals, Animal Kingdom Lodge would be a great choice.
My girls have always loved the character meals; if you can, schedule one if not two. My 6 year old loves anything with Princesses (Princess Storybook meals at Epcot, Cinderella's Royal Table, 1900 Park Fare), Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, and Crystal Palace with Pooh & Friends in Magic Kingdom. Other than that, in late June, just be sure to take a nice break every day. My 6 year old will still crash every afternoon for a couple of hours while my oldest daughter and I hit the pool. Good luck! Bruce

I'm sure you're head is spinning by now!
I just wanted to say Welcome! It seems a daunting task to plan a WDW holiday, but stick around and ask lots of questions!

Re: New Member Needing Help About Which Resort to Stay at
I agree that choosing a resort is truly up to your individual tastes. You really need to peruse the resorts at allearsnet.com and see which ones appeal to you and your family the most. Then we can help you better by giving you more personal advice on your choices.
Know that there really are no bad choices when it comes to Disney resorts. They all appeal to someone. I would also suggest you purchase a WDW guide book to see what's in the parks and plan which things you: a) MUST see/do b) would like to see/do if time allows c) which things you could skip Then we can help you plan your days based on your choices.
