Fiji at Polynesian

For our trip in May I was thinking about requesting Fiji because even though it's garden view, we can look at the Marina and face the back of the volcano pool. Does anyone think this is a good idea? Or is another garden view a better choice to be close to GCH and volcano pool. Please help.

Welcome to Disney Central! You picked my favorite resort!! I personally would not recommend Fiji because it is located right next to Luau Cove and can be noisy at night. It is also quite a walk if you want to go to the Transportation & Ticket Center. Why not try Samoa? It is close to both GCH and the volcano pool. You could have a view of the volcano pool on one side or the quiet pool on the other side. This building is along the path to GCH so you may get some traffic noise but it is very conveniently located. Another good choice is Tokelau and would be my pick because it is a little closer to TTC and still close to the pools. I think this longhouse will be a little more quiet and is nonsmoking which appeals to me. Samoa is a smoking optional longhouse. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm sure I will make mistakes using this because I'm new to it. Samoa is out because one of our kids has asthma and even if the smell of the smoke is around it's a problem. Tokelau sounds good though and I think that's probably better. Thanks for the advice
:D

Angie, welcome to DisneyCentral. We stayed in a third floor garden view in Tahiti in December. I couldn't have asked for a better location. The rooms were great, the view was nice (we could see both monorails and the ferry dock to the MK from our balcony) and it was located right next to the TTC, so it was easier to walk there than it was to walk to the Poly monorail station. While it is a ways to the main pool, it took about one minute to get to the quite pool and about 3 to the main pool. We also were away from everything that is noisy. I would choose that building again in a heart beat.

If it is still avialable when you go, I would suggest that. They are going to use it for the concierge building starting in June, but you should be ok.

Thanks For the welcome:D I think that I will def. not request Fiji from what y'all have said. I'm still not quite sure how this works. Tahiti will be concierge one month after we go. At this point I'm so excited to go I could sleep in a tent on the beach and be happy. But as it is, we are celebrating our son's 5th birthday while we are there and want it to be special for our 7 yr old dd and for my parents so we want to get it right. In 2000 we stayed at courtyard by Marriott in downtown disney because we had enough marriott points to stay free for a week. Even free I probably wouldn't stay there again. No magic. thanks for the advice

Yes!!! the tikiman site is a must! That is where I got most of my information. It has all the details about everything having to do with Polynesian. Also the Passporter guidebook has a map with the layout of the buildings. I haven't stayed there yet but can't wait for the May trip. Now i am leaning towards requesting tokelau
;)

Mickey - THANK YOU!!!!!! :) That is precisely what I was looking for! The maps they give you when you check in! I'm particular about building configuration, so this is perfect for me to figure out what I want ... and then see if we can afford it, lol! (I was looking to compare several resorts, but I asked in this Poly thread as that's one of the ones I'm interested in. I decided from reading this thread that if we do choose the Poly at some point, it WILL be Tokelau.)

We stayed at three long houses, Hawaii, Rarotonga, and Fiji.
All were wonderful but for different reasons. The only complaint I have about Fiji is that you can hear the luau during the night. My favorite was Hawaii because we splurged for a lagoon view, and Rarotonga was fabulous because of its convenience to everything.
:)
