1 night @ Pop, do you think this is worth it?
I have been combing airfare for our August (Sat. 19th - Sat. 26th) WDW trip for the past 3 months and have been suprised how much more the tickets are listing for than we paid last year, they haven't dropped a dime in the past three months either.
Then I wanted to see what would happen if I put in leaving one night before and taking a late afternoon flight. Voile!!! I could save $200 on two tickets if I leave 2pm Friday afternoon, versus 6:30am Saturday morning!! Although, our resort does NOT have anything available that night to add on to our trip so I think I would stay at Pop for one night, which I can get for $110. This would STILL save us $90 by arriving a night earlier. What do you think, is it worth it? Would it be TOO much hassle to arrive Friday evening, check into Pop, and switch hotels for Satuday?!? Has anyone done this? Do they have a service where they can transfer your things for you? OR, should I just hold tight and hope those airfares drop for the Sat-Sat dates?

Isn't August value season? ARen't the rates for value season 77 a night. Try Triple A. You would probably get a better rate than what you've got so far.

If you can save $90, do it. It's definately worth saving that much.

Another night at a WDW resort, even if it isn't the resort of your dreams, and you can SAVE money by doing it?
I'm sorry but I don't see that this is even a question. OF COURSE YOU SHOULD DO IT!!

Re: 1 night @ Pop, do you think this is worth it?
Not only will it save $90 but I think waking up fresh and having the full day Saturday is so much more pleasurable than getting to the airport at 5am Sat. to arrive at Orlando at 9:30, get the magical express, check in, then there's only a little bit of the day left.
I REALLY hope somebody has done this before b/c I'd really like to hear how much of a hassle it is to switch! Didn't Laneysdad do this? If anyone sees him tell him to come visit this thread, hehe ![]()

I'm going to be doing this in May!! We stay at ASMO on Fri and Sat then move to SSR on Sun for the rest of the trip!! I'm told that they will move your luggage and no big deal... so I will report back...
As for if you should??? IS THIS A TRUE QUESTION??? OF COURSE YOU SHOULD!

Being also from NJ we found spirit air out of Atlantic city inernational to be the cheapest. Also if you leave on a mon tue or wed its cheaper. Check the prices everyday. We caught a special by checking for $508 for four people round trip. $54.00 pp each way for july. The prices change often so check every day.

Re: 1 night @ Pop, do you think this is worth it?
Thanks Casey, unfortunately, it's REALLY hard for us to leave out of Atlantic City b/c it's so far south and we live only 35 minutes from Newark airport. the train is right downt he street from our house so it's SO easy for us to jump on and jump off at Newark. This way we don't have to rely on a ride to the airport.
anyway, YES, everyone DOEs tell me it's so much cheaper to fly out of AC but it would be a real hassle for us! I will DEFINATELY keep my eyes open and look into all options! DH said he doesn't care either way, "whatever I want." hehe.

Well, I say wait for new flight rates. Are you checking Ding's and all that? It's bound to drop before August.
Then again, I don't fly commercial. So take my advise with a grain of salt. |

Re: 1 night @ Pop, do you think this is worth it?
If you have the time, GO EARLY!!!!
![]() Like you said, you'll wake up ready to go on Saturday. I have read TR's where people move (DVC members that save points by staying Friday/Saturday nights at a value) and I don't recall ever reading anything negative about it. You may spend your $90 on meals and such in the extra hours you get at WDW, but at least you are spending it doing something you love, not just on your flight.

Re: 1 night @ Pop, do you think this is worth it?
Yes, Wish, they will move your bags for you. There is no hassle. We've done it numerous times. Sometimes they tell you just to leave the bags in your room and they would just send it over to the new resort while you were at the parks(I always left a tip of a dollar a bag) and it would be stored until you checked in. Last time we moved after one night from Boardwalk Villas to Beachclub Villas, but we were told we had to wait until our bags were collected. We had to be in the room - so I don't know if this is the policy now. But simply tell them at AllStars that you will be moving to the Pop in the morning and they'll take care of you! And yes, you should definitely go for it - it gives you one whole more day at WDW!

Re: 1 night @ Pop, do you think this is worth it?
I've done resort changes and, no, they told me I had to move my own bags.
Since I drive I can't help you with the airfare question. I will say that what you could do is make your carry on and overnight bag and have the rest of your luggage taken to the other resort, that way you won't have to lug it around. I don't know if you can do that, but so many other people mail stuff to their resorts before they get there its worth a shot. So just prepay one night and do express check out. I was thinking of doing this, having one night at pop or even off prop so I could get in that extra day and feel rested before starting my real trip. Just make sure it's worth it as prices may drop come closer to august.
