Beach Club - as good as it looks?

We've done Poly, AKL and the Contemporary. We went for dinner one night at Beach Club and my kids really fell in love with the pool (though I prefer the Poly's volcano slide, this isn't about me apparently).

We really prefer to be on the monorail esp. after being at AKL - I despised the buses, we actually sat in one for an hour in traffic one day (not Disney's fault of course, but many other things were ;) ).

Isn't the Beach Club close enough to Epcot to catch the rail there?

Re: Beach Club - as good as it looks?

Yep! And to answer the question in your thread title, Yep! The Beach Club is a magnificent resort. We found that when staying there, we only caught the bus to get to Animal Kingdom--it was too easy to just stroll through Epcot to catch the monorail to the MK (then again, we LOVE Epcot, so enjoyed the walk immensely). The hub of activity that is the Boardwalk is a great place to be based, and everything is right in your "backyard"--literally!

The Beach Club itself, like I said, is great. The staff are lovely, the restaurants are top-notch, and that pool really is exceptional. We've only stayed in the villas, but I've heard wonderful thing about the hotel section as well.

The beach club is within walking distance to the international gateway which takes you to the world show case. You could walk to the monorail from there, but I think it may take just as long as catching a bus to do all of this. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like AKL. That is definately one of my favorite resorts. We never had any transportation issues. I am really sorry that you did.

Re: Beach Club - as good as it looks?

The Beach Club is absolutely amazing! Before my Sept. 05 BCV trip Polly was my favorite hands down. It was also our first trip in a villa - really great! Don't get me wrong, I love Polly and the monorail access but BC has so much to offer! Yes, Epcot is close - just a short walk away! We love Epcot and spend a lot of time there. If you walk to Epcot, you enter at the international gateway in the world showcase - the opposite end of the park from the monorail. I think you'd be much better off with the busses to MK. We had no problems with BC busses. Of course it was Sept. and not at all crowded. I'm not sure how it is during busy times. Stormalong Bay is the best pool I've been to! And that is a big statement coming from me! My 7 yr old DD is a competitive swimmer and is part mermaid I think The sandy bottom is unlike anything I've ever seen and the slide and lazy river are a lot of fun. My DD actually asked us when we were going to leave the parks to go back for a swim! I could lay in the pool for hours squishing the sand between my fingers & toes and watch my DD build sand castles or alligator crawl on the sand through the water. It was just what we needed in the middle of each day to rejuvinate us for more theme park fun! The snack bar there sells kids meals served in a sand pail with shovel so you don't have to worry about bringing your own!

The BC is as good as it looks!

And if you don't like busses, you've got 2 parks that you can walk to.

I do understand wanting to be on the monorail, espically if you spend most of your time at the MK though.

The BC is as good (if not better) than it looks!! You can walk to Epcot (or boat) and bot to MGM. You can walk through Epcot, and take the monorail to TTC and get the other monorail to the MK. The buses are also quick from BC (even thout they serve the YC as well as the S & D). We have all had horror stories about the busses, but all in all, the transportation system does a good job moving all the people around.

Re: Beach Club - as good as it looks?

Up until our last trip the Yacht and Beach Clubs were our favorites. However, the Poly has now moved to the top of our list. The whole tropical feel was so much more relaxing to us. And there is just something about hanging at the pool with the MK in the background that really said Disney to us, plus the marina, well actually the lake, was so much better ( we are really into renting watercraft when we go ), and of course the Monorail is just great.

On the flip side, Y&BC has these advatages, proximity to EPCOT and MGM, there are so many different dining options ( particularly late at night ), and the pool is the coolest we have ever been in.

Enjoy, Harry

Yes, it's as good as it looks! We've stayed there twice and the pool was a huge hit for my DS. Being close to 2 parks is great, I loved being able to walk to Epcot and the boat ride to MHM was always quick.

Yes, it is as good as it looks. You can walk to Epcot and walk to MGM too if you'd like. We've done the walk through Epcot to the monorail...honestly, the bus is quicker, even if you miss a bus by 30 seconds and have to wait for another. It's a direct shot from BC to MK.

It's right across from the Boardwalk.
A very short walk.

Beach Club is my fantasy resort!!! Stay there!!! And then if you absolutely MUST get on a monorail to MK one day, just stroll through EC (Be sure to eat Fish & Chips at UK as you pass through MMMMM and have a big sip of Beverly at Clulb Cool on the way! WINK WINK) and hop on to go to MK!

Re: Beach Club - as good as it looks?

The Beach Club is BETTER than it looks. I stayed there last year, before we left I really wasn't sure about it, but after we'd stayed there I LOVED it. I didn't want to leave. The pool of course is awesome, there's a guy, I think his name is Art, who says hello to you every time you walk by (I loved him), if you want to go to Epcot it is literally a few minutes walk away which is completely awesome, you can take the boat to MGM which is nice,

Anything else? Trust me it's GREAT.

First of all, the Beach Club is a marvelous resort. I think that Storm-Along Bay is the best "pool" at WDW.

As for catching the monorail, you enter Epcot at the Int. Gateway, and you would have to walk all the way to the front of the park. it's a long hike, if you ask me. However, the bus service is so good, it's much quicker to just get on the bus and go directly over to the MK if that's your desire. Actually, there are buses that will take you where you want to go. AK, Downtown Disney, etc. From the Beach Club you can take a water taxi over to MGM or just walk over.
