One more kid friendly question.
Just found out the DH is going to Orlando for a business convention in May and we have some free miles so we decided to take the gang down to DWD again!!! (We wwere just there in Nov. 02 at WL). Will be DH and DS 2 and 4 (yes older son will have a b-day by then!!!)
We want to stay on-site even though conference is at convention center on Int. Dr. Company will reimb. for 3 nights at about $150/night and we will pick-up the additional 5 or 6 nights ourselves. I don't want to go into the parks alone with the kids while DH is off-site at the meetings because I don't want him t miss a magic moment. I thought I'd spend those three days either at the hotel or at Downtown Disney, etc with the guys. Here is my question: What hotel is good for VERY young children? Their idea of swimming is standing on the first step of a pool unless its a shallow kiddie pool so a fancy pool will not be a draw but playgrounds, beaches, ducks or fish to feed, places to walk etc. are pluses. If money were no object I'd go Poly buuutt since we're still paying off Nov. 02 you get the picture.... If we go All-Stars we have to get two rooms because my DH is 6'4" and I'm 6'0" and we don't both fit in a double bed!!! Any feed back would help. We are also considering a suite at the Doubletree near DTD.

Have you considered splitting up your stay? Since you will be reimbursed (mostly), why not spend the first three nights at the Beach Club. There are tons of things to do around the resort, the pool is great (there is even a little kid pool that is just like a beach, and only about a foot deep) and there are plenty of restaurants around. You will probably be looking at about $235 with tax after the discounts are released. As an option, Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge both have a lot of fun things to do, and would be less expensive. You will be about $175 per night after the discount at WL for a lodge view.
After that, you could move over to a moderate and go from there. I would suggest Port Orleans Riverside for both the extended stay and the shortened one. Great resort, two big themed pools, two resorts to explore and a boat to Downtown Disney.

Which are better - the discount codes or my Disney Club discount (which will expire in Feb)?

The discount codes are always better, though there are often Disney Club codes for package, but I don't think you want to do it that way.
You can get a Disney Club discount any time of the year, based on availability, but it amounts to somewhere between 10% and 20% off published rates. The discount codes, when released, are typically 35% to 40% off the rates.

If pools for young children are a priority, I would say AKL or BC (BC might be pricier than you want). They both have zero entry pools (you wade in like at the beach). The POFQ would definitely be in your price range and I think their pool is great too. The baby pool has character spinklers.
