Question about Pt Orleans French Quarter

We stayed here once about two years ago. At the time my son was 2 yrs old and was scared to death of the jester decorations. We did not get to see much of the resort because of this. I kinda recall seeing a boardwalk type area outside of the main building, just through a set of french doors. What exactly is out there? Like I said, I wanted to check it out but with a 2 yr old terrified refusing to even go into the main lobby (for those that may have seen this...I apoligize..lol) we couldnt.

Re: Question about Pt Orleans French Quarter

That's funny, because after having seen the photos of the food court online, I worried that my little guy would be scared too, but he was fine. There really isn't any thing else to freaky outside, I think there was a cute statue of a crocodile near the pool, but mostly it's just very quaint.

Re: Question about Pt Orleans French Quarter

We stayed there 2 years ago as well. The pool, hot tub and laundry facilities are back there too. There's a really cool slide in the pool. The boat to Downtown Disney is a great extra for the folks staying at the FQ. Our building was right next to the wharf where it stopped to pick up and drop off. We made about two or three trips during our 11 day stay. THAT was very nice.

Re: Question about Pt Orleans French Quarter

We just stayed there in January- I will admit, my 8 year old was a bit freaked out by the large heads in the food court area, but after he looked at them for a minute, he got over it. My 5 year old was unfazed.

They loved the slide in the pool, and we all loved the boat to DTD. We are planning on staying there again next year.

Didnt get the "Ben yays" But they did offer a pretty good muffaletta in the food court too!
DW is freaked by clowns too, but since we're used to Mardi gras floats down here it was no big deal, plus they are way above you so its not like you stare directly at the ceiling.
The rest of the resort has mostly nautical themes really, alligators, sea serpent, king triton (neptune?). I'm sorry you didn't get to see the rest of the resort, the gardens and landscaping are really beautiful.

Re: Question about Pt Orleans French Quarter

FYI- I had the beignets last week, and while they are an experiment in powdered sugar, they DO NOT compare to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans... Not even close. We got them once, but not again!!! Hopefully it was just they day that we were there, but I think not... The hotel was great... TONS of HM on the bedspread. We found a lot every day!!!! It was a fun hotel, plus you can always go to riverside to eat.
