Re: Coronado Springs???

Hi Brian... CSR has a lot of fans, and a lot of detractors. You will find a wide range of opinions on this subject.

I am a detractor. I felt the rooms were small and dark, the courtyards were barren, there were too many businessmen staying there for work, the food court had creepy food, the pool was a zillion miles away. The worst part for me was that I felt like the resort was really far from the magic... I didn't feel like I was part of the Disney experience. You are not near any of the parks, except Blizzard Beach. I felt like CSR could have been any La Quinta Motor Lodge in any city in the United States.

This is a convention hotel. That completely detracts from the Disney experience. And for kids, well, NOPE!!! They will enjoy the OTHER moderates so much more, with all the kids activities, comforting recognizable food, plenty of hair braiding, fishing, crayons and other kids to see... the other mods really feel like Disney!

Re: Coronado Springs???

We stayed at Coronado a few years ago. We thought it was nice. The rooms were nice, and the theme was pretty cool, but we just weren't blown away. It was nothing special really. The pool area is VERY cool, but we don't really use the pools too much on our trips. We're more of a "all parks, all the time" kinda family. It is a large resort, so your room location does play a big part. You might be close to the bus stop, but 100 miles away from the food court, that sort of thing. So a little research into that area may help you. I guess, basically, I'm saying that CS is pretty nice, but we didn't find it to be anything exceptional.

Re: Coronado Springs???

In the order in which we liked our resorts, number one is SOG, its just right for what we want. Contempary was also very good.We enjoyed the Caribbean Resort and for our first visit the AllStar resort was just right. I am afraid that the Coronado Springs just did not impress us that much. I really did not like the curtain you have for privacy in the bathroom. None of the restaurants got very good reviews (coffee bar was very good). I really liked the grounds for my early 5:00am walks and the lobby was really done right at Christmas time. Over all it was just ok with us. Just our humble opinion.

Re: Coronado Springs???

We had tons of problems years ago when we stayed there. We disliked it so much we swore that we would only stay there again if it were free..and even then we may not stay there. Cant even get into the troubles we had there. And a week later a friend of mine went and had a number of things go wrong there as well. Mayeb it has improved but we wont be going back there.

Re: Coronado Springs???

We hated the way we would smile and say hello to other people staying there and have these weird, unfriendly "who the bleep are you?" glares from the convention people. At no other resort have we had that. It's as if they resented our being friendly. And the non-Disney restaurants really showed, unfortunately -- while they wear tags which are the Disney name tags they are not CMs and you can really tell. There weren't even any hidden mickeys in the room draperies or bedding or whatnot, like there are at other hotels there, and we even asked a CM about that and they said there weren't any. The food wasn't bad at all, but very overpriced compared with the same things at other Moderate resorts.

The theming was quite beautiful, absolutely, but this was the least Disney-like of the places we've stayed there so far (CB, PORS, AKL) and the dining was the least Disney-like of any of the resort places we've eaten at.

Re: Coronado Springs???

Have stayed there many times and love the resort but the food is getting a bit pricey. The other moderates food prices are more reasonable, at least for Disney. Joe

Re: Coronado Springs???

Thanks for all of the replies everyone. Everything has been extremely helpful. I am still not sure where we will stay yet. No matter where we stay I'm sure we will have a great time. Thanks again.
