Re: Coronado Springs???

I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses, but if not, I know Ingamba just stayed there during his last trip.

Re: Coronado Springs???

We enjoyed our stay there. I love the southwest, so I felt right at home with the architecture and theming. My DW & DD do prefer the CBR, it was a bit quieter and felt a little more casual to them. The food court is unique at the CS, liek having a slew of little resturants together, we all liked it, but I have heard from others who have not. The rooms are pretty standard moderate rooms, the water views and courtyard views are lovely. Just try to get a building close to the pool or the dining area and of course being close to the bus stops are good.

Re: Coronado Springs???

We have stayed there 2 different times, and enjoyed both times. The resort is very spread out. One time we were closer to the Dig Site pool and the 2nd time we were closer to the Pepper Market. The rooms were very nice.

Re: Coronado Springs???

We absolutely LOVED CSR and hope to stay there again sometime. The food court was wonderful - the pool was so much fun - the atmosphere and grounds were just beautiful - our room was standard and was very nice. Of all the places I have stayed so far CSR has been in my top 2 favorites (along with WL). I know there have been very mixed reviews about CSR on this site but you will find that is the case with just about everything. I think the diversity is what makes DC so wonderful! I hope you chose to stay there and love it as much as my family did!!!

Re: Coronado Springs???

I LOVE CSR! Superb theming - it's really an excellent place to stay!

It CAN be a little spread out, but there is internal transportation (people on golf carts that will give you a lift), plus you can request a room close to where you'll be spending most of your resort time (either the pool, or the main hall)

Re: Coronado Springs???

CSR Pros:
Great theming, Recreatyional lake, bike rental on site, excellent pool, HUGE hot tub, excellent food court, depending on preference not a TON of kids
Cons:
The resort is huge and depending on room placement everything could be a good walk. The trick is being between the main building and the pool then all is right with the world.

CSR Pros & Cons

THE PROS
  • No sharing bus service with other resorts and only 4 internal stops
  • Centrally located with short rides to the parks
  • Largest hot tub on WDW property
  • Best main pool area of all the mods with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
  • 3 quiet pools
  • New internal shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
  • High speed internet service
  • WiFi available too
  • Free use of the gym
  • Spa and salon available
  • Coffeemaker in the room
  • Iron and ironing board
  • full room service menu
  • 2 arcades
  • beautifully landscaped
  • central air, not a noisey wall unit
THE CONS
  • double beds, kings size beds and suites are available (wish they had queens beds)
  • only one sink
IN THE MIDDLE
  • The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it because of the choices and freshness of the food but some guests just don't care for the set up and 10% gratuity.
  • Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are other WDW convention resorts.

Review from mousesavers.com!!

Coronado Springs is my Best Value choice in the Moderate category. It has several advantages compared with the other Moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, Coronado Springs is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other Moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court.

The theming is radically different in the three areas of Coronado Springs. You can request a specific area when booking but there is no guarantee you'll get your request.
  • The Spanish-style Casitas at Coronado Springs are very peaceful, with courtyards featuring tiled fountains. Casitas Buildings 1, 3 and 2 (in that order) are the closest to the restaurants and services. Casitas Building 4 contains the salon and health club, if those are important to you.
  • The Cabanas at Coronado Springs have a beachy Caribbean feeling. Cabanas Building 8A is very close to the feature pool, which may be a blessing (convenience) or a curse (noise, light). Cabanas Building 9B is closest to the marina and relatively convenient to the restaurants and services.
  • The Ranchos at Coronado Springs feel quiet and secluded -- some would say isolated -- and feature desert landscaping and pueblo-style architecture. They look closest to the main pool on a map, but in actuality they are separated from the rest of the property by a swamp, so it can be a fairly long walk from these buildings to the pool, and a very long walk to the restaurants.

Re: Coronado Springs???

I love CSR!!!

CSR is a large resort that does not share services with other resorts and offers some deluxe amenities because it is a convention resort.

CSR has a salon, spa, and a gym that other moderates do not offer. CSR has full menu room service and offers an internal shuttle system provided by golf carts to assist in getting to and from the main building to the villages.

CSR has terrific transportation. It does not share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 8 at CBR). And since CSR is centrally located, you'll have a quick ride to all the parks.

And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because guests are busy with their conventions.

Re: Coronado Springs???

DH and I stayed there on our last trip, and really loved it. The atmosphere was beautiful, bus service was good, and we thought the food was great.

My only con....the resort is absolutely huge! We never got into the Dig Site (main) pool because it was so far away from our room. We like to go for a swim in the evening after a day at the parks and the walk to the pool just seemed like a huge task!! I've heard that there is an internal shuttle system at the resort to get you around, but we never saw one....in fact, we went looking for one a couple of times and still didn't see any carts other than the utility carts.

Other than that though, we really enjoyed CSR!

Buzz2001 hit the nail on the head with everything regarding the pros and cons of staying at CSR. With that being said, I really liked our stay there. I say go for it!
