I know that this may sound silly to some, but I know that housekeeping staff are usually underpaid terribly- Can you imagine what they must find? Just want to make my housekeeping staff happy with our messes!! Thanks for all input- it is very much appriciated!! ;)

Ha Ha David ...Hope your kidding.

You should tip according to performance I would say. I am sure the people hired to clean there make little above minimum wage and for *** sake they are cleaning toilets. (I wish someone tipped me for clean a toilet, I would be rich)

I was very happy with our maid service, every day our disney animals were in a new adventure. I left 10 dollars for 6 nights.
But, If it was not so hot, I would have only left 5. But either way I think my tipping is moderate. I always had enough toilet paper and my trash cans were empitied daily.

Same for me, I usually tip according to how well they clean. I would leave a amount at the end of my stay or every 6-7 days.
Usually between 10$-20$ for good service and 5 for fear and 0$ for very desapointed with a note at the front desk.

Our last day at the Contemporary just as we were leaving, a frog found his way into some swimming trunks my brother was drying on the balcony on the third floor! I have no idea how it got there, but it got lost in our room and we could not find it anywhere. We told a housekeeper but it didn't seem like she understood us.

So anyway your comment about what housekeeping finds in the rooms reminded me of that story.

I usually tip $2 per day. When I tip I tip every day because the same person may not clean our room every day of our stay. I would hate to think I left a 20 at the end of the week thinking it was going to the person who did such a great job every day of our stay only to leave a 20 to a new person because it was a day off for our regular mousekeeper.

First I go to www.pscalculator.com and print up envelopes for the "Mousekeeping" staff tips (One for each day of our stay). Then I usually tip 5 dollars a day depending on the performance of the staff. I leave a tip each day because you never know who is going to be there from day to day. I would hate to leave one lump sum on my last day and have the regular be off and the replacement get the tip!:)

You know...

Tipping a housekeeper was something I had never thought about. We're definately going to tip this next trip though. You're right...It would be a pretty thankless job.

We tip $2 per day. I've seen the envelopes and think it is a cute idea but there is always a convenient place to leave the tip. At Polynesian, there was a little name card in the bathroom with our mousekeepers name - we left it there. At POR last week, our mousekeeper left us a welcome note on the pad next to the phone. We left her tip there each day and were greeted with notes each day from her. She always did cute things with my daughters dolls and it made it a real treat to go back to the room each day.

It's very cool to tip the mousekeeping staff. I have already printed the envelopes that say Thankyou Mousekeeping on them. You can pick from lots of pictures but we picked Mickey and they printed up so cute. I think 2$ a day unless treatment is exceptional, then more.

We had connecting rooms at the ASMu last year. We left $2 per room every morning before we left for the parks. One of our mousekeepers was very talented with towel art. Every evening we had a different animal or something like a shirt and tie. The kids got a kick out of it, and anticipated what might be waiting for us when we returned to our rooms. :)

Got back from CBR at DW and we had the same mousekeeper every day, so I left her a tip at the end of the trip. We also got the little towel animal with a note that they missed us. I gave her 25$ for the week.
