Caribbean Beach Resort

I called to make reservations for Shades of Green (we are military) and the CM offered me CBR instead at $89.00/night. A couple of questions! I have never seen this resort and would like to know the best building to stay in that is close to transporatation. Did I get a decent rate? Since we are going the first week of June should I keep checking for better deals? I am taking 2 kids and hubby who has only done any kind of Disney once. Any suggestons for dining relatively inexpensively for a family of four would be great!

Have I completely overwhelmed everybody? :dazed

Caribbean Beach Resort

First off to get a look at the resort go to www.wdwig.com and check the resort pages. As far as the transportaion no matter which building you are there will be a bus stop close by within a reasonable distance. It has been a few years since we were there and they have since changed the food court so I'm not sure about the food options.

As for food (Taken from the www.wdwig.com site)-Old Port Royale features a food court, open from 6 am to midnight, with more limited hours for some of the counters. Breakfast selections include bagels, fresh fruit, Mickey waffles, eggs, and breakfast meats. Lunch and dinner selections include burgers, pizza, pasta, deli sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Full dinners are available at the food court and at Shutters at Old Port Royale (a table service restaurant, adjacent to the food court) from 5 to 10 pm.
The best beverage deal is the refillable mugs, available for approximately $10.99 at any of the food court vendors and through Pizza Delivery. These are 16-oz, sturdy, dishwashable plastic containers with lids. Mugs are refillable for the length of your stay at a self-service beverage island in the center of the food court.

Beverages at the island include soft drinks, coffee, tea, iced coffee and tea, and hot chocolate (but not milk or fruit juice). Tip: when you come back from a day at a theme park, fill your mug with decaf, and go relax at poolside.

Alcoholic beverages, including tropical specialties, are available at Shutters at Old Port Royale and at a poolside bar, Banana Cabana.

Limited room service, from Blue Runner Pizza and Meal Delivery, offers pizza, sandwiches and salads. Delivery hours are from 4:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Rooms have coffee makers and complimentary coffee packets.

Soda vending machines are in every village. Ice machines

We stayed at CBR last July, and loved it. You got a great rate. It's always worth keeping an eye out, but I doubt you'll beat it. We stayed in Martinique, and it was a stone's throw from the food court. While it's true that bus stops are close to everywhere, it was very convenient to walk to the main bldg. There's a new restaurant that they just opened, as well as the food court. Have a great trip.:heart :)

We have stayed at CBR 2 times, both times in Jamaica, and were pleased with our stay. I really can't think of a thing we were not happy with. One time we had 4 adults in the room and the other time we had 3 adults and we were okay. We are the type of people who spend very little time at the resort while at WDW so CBR was a good fit for us.

My kids were 7 and 10 when we went last summer. A couple of tips:
1-Buy the resort mugs. They're convenient, they save you money, and they're a great souvenir
2-Nap, nap, nap- We thought this sounded silly when we heard about it, since our kids hadn't napped since they were in diapers. So, we didn't do it the first day-big mistake. We're the types that are in the parks from opening to closing. Well, that's a long time and a lot of walking for kids in the Fl. summer heat. They basically melted down-we actually had to leave the restaurant before our dinner came because of their behavior. And, it was all our fault for not napping them. After that, we went back to the room around noon each day, and came back around 2 p.m. We never had a problem again, and it was the key to an enjoyable vacation. Plus, we were out of the parks at the most crowded and hottest time of the day.
Hope this helps. Have a great trip!

It's a nice resort, and I paid more than $89 per night way back in 1989.:laugh

We stayed at CBR 3 years ago and liked it a lot!! I think the food court was great with kids!! If you go to the food place(I forget the name) in the food court that sells rotiserie chicken meals, 1 meal with sides is big enough for 2 kids to share!! Also get the refillable mugs!! Have fun!! Try to get Martinique!!

I just came back from my 1 visit to CBR, definitly get the Martique section and you could also ask for building 24,25 or 26, they are right next to Old Port Royal(food court). For transportation, every section as a bus station. They also have nice recreational activities(boats, bicycles,...)

You got a great rate... the best rate for a moderate I've ever seen with deep discounts was $85 during off season. The new discounts published for when you are going is $104 standard so... good for you! We stayed there in April 2002 in Aruba and didn't like the location... too far from the food court area. The pool and beaches are fun though! As for inexpensive dining, you might want to check out this link http://www.mousesavers.com/meals.html. Happy Planning!
