Upgrade Possibility
I'm getting very excited about my trip in LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!! So what is the possibility of us getting upgraded from CBR to one of the deluxes??? I'm pretty certain we were not booked at a discount rate AT ALL! So is this impossible how do I ask? Do I have to ask for one certain deluxe or can I just ask for any of them??
Thanks< :D :D |

If you booked room only, go to www.mousesavers.com and get the best available rate. Then, cancel your original ressie, and use the code for the new ressie. If you booked a package, you still may be better off canceling it, using the codes, and buying park tix separately. Just a thought, but, this way, you may be able to get a deluxe for what you've already committed to for CBR. This is the only way I know of to get an upgrade. Good luck.:heart :)

I had my travel agent put a request for an upgrade on my reservation. Of course, the upgrade was in the same hotel. We got it!
From what I understand, if you book through a TA...then the TA needs to do all the requesting. Stupid rule, especially for people who like to have their hands on the reigns...like me. Good luck!

Trish,
our res. are for garden view at Poly. I've requested non smoking, adjoining rooms and if possible Tokelau building. How would I go about asking for an upgrade since we didn't use a travel agent? If you know I would be eternally grateful. I'll be happy with garden view but lagoon view sure would be nice thanks angie

Whether you do it yourself, or you have a travel agents do it, the process is the same. You will need to request it when you contact the resort concerning your room requests. You will also need to ask when you check in. The majority of the time, they will say there is no availability, because that is the truth. If there is limited availability, they may offer you an upgrade for a small price, usually about half of the difference between the cost of the two rooms. And every once and a while you will get a free upgrade.

Thanks Mickey,
i think I will just be happy with what we have. I don't want to push our luck and make the room assigner mad. I may then end up with a fabulous view of the parking lot. I'm just thrilled to be going and to be staying at the Polynesian thanks, Angie

Angie,
I used a link on wdwig.com (look under accomodations) that was a letter of request for an upgrade that you can fax 3 or 4 days before you arrive. It seems the room assigner won't even have your reservation until that time. I tried to fax a request to the BoardWalk for our last visit, but their fax machine was broke. So, I called the front desk and spoke to a cast member. Turns out that I was able to receive the upgrade. We were bumped up from a standard room to a waterview room. Very nice. But, it was very off-season when we were there. No one was in the hotel but conventioneers...and there were many open rooms. Hope this helps!

Trish,
thanks for the advice. Do you think it sounds pushy to ask? I'm scared i will aggravate them and then I won't even get my regular request for a particular building. Do they get aggravated at requests or are they happy to try and accomadate you? thanks angie

Angie...everyone that I talked to was very friendly.
It's funny that you should mention that. When I spoke to the girl at the front desk, she said that an upgrade would not be possible on my package, but was possible on the additional night. It turned out just the opposite (and both rooms were terrific!). The night that we added to the beginning of our stay was left as a standard room and the package was upgraded to a water view. And..we were able to have both rooms early. We checked into the standard room at 2 pm, and into the waterview at 7 am. What service! All you have to do is ask!

Hello
We stayed at the AKL last December and asked for an upgrade when we checked in. We had a standard view and they said for an additional $10.00 per night we could have a Savanah view. It was definitely worth the money. All you have to do is ask! Good luck!:) |

Just ask nicely...
I gave a compliment to the all star movie resort manager about a new reservation girl who was having trouble with the system. He was so pleased that he gave us a double upgrade. Sometimes it pays to be nice and compliment whenever you can.

Exactly how do you ask for it without sounding pushy. i mean what exactly do you say and when. While you are checking in, or when you send a note to the room assigner ahead of time or what?
thanks angie

I thougt this info might be helpful. http://www.tikiman2001.homestead.com/tokelau.html According to this, there are some garden view rooms in Tokelau that actually have a lagoon view. There are only 2 rooms in the Tokelau longhouse that are lagoon view rooms and from what I read it isn't worth paying the extra $$ as the view isn't as good as what you would get in the Tahiti longhouse. You might have better luck with a specific room request than getting an upgrade. |
