Birthdays at WDW?

Hi all.

We're taking our twin daughters on their second WDW trip this September (16-23) with the great Magical Beginning package.

Shhh, don't tell the ticket takers at the park, but our little ones are turning 3 while we're down there!

Has anyone else celebrated a child's birthday at the resort hotels? Any ideas about any special they might be able to do for us?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Birthdays at WDW?

Nothing beats a birthday at WDW! To make your daughters' birthdays extra special, make reservations for a disney character meal. I would suggest the Crystal Palace or the Princess breakfast/lunch at MK, or if you're not planning on visiting a park that day, go for Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. Either way, they'll get to see their favorite characters and will be treated like little princesses. Most full-service restaurants will also present them with a cupcake or dessert and sing Happy Birthday. Make sure to tell your resort that you'll be celebrating a birthday at check-in. Your girls might get a special suprise or a phone call from one of the characters.

Re: Birthdays at WDW?

WElcome to Disney Central if I havne't welcomed you already.

There are quicte a few things you can do for birthdays. You can get them birthday buttons at the parks and maybe matching birthday t-shirts. More times than not, cast members make a serious fuss out of birthdays. Havew the birthday celebration noted on all the advanced dining reservations that you make and you may get a couple of surprises like a happy birthday song or a cupcake to celebrate. Careful however....someone is going to ask how old they are turning eventually.

Re: Birthdays at WDW?

I had my 18th Birthday at WDW, make sure you get the birthday badges from Town Hall in MK (There are birthday badges avalible somewhere in Epcot too that are slightly different). When a character sees these they go all out and get really crazy! I had an amazing character breakfast in the Park Fare, Tigger waltzed me around the room and then the whole place burst into song and they brought out a cup cake with a candle and a tiara that I wore all day! Plus all around the park CMs were really great, all wishing me a happy birthday and even sneaking me a few fast passes for the rides.
Depending what shops you go in, some CMs will get a acharacter on the phone just for you that will sing happy birthday too!!

The list is pretty much endless of what you can do and what surprises you may find (One little girl had the band on Main Street play for her). There is a site around this www tat does special occasion gift baskets etc but because the twins are so young it might be a better idea of you to make your own and mabe ask if they can be delivered to the room?

Re: Birthdays at WDW?

Thanks for all the advice. We'll definitely let the folks know @check-in and get B-day pins @the Parks.

As it turns out, we've already got PSs for Cinderella's Castle for lunch on the big day!

That's perfect. Grab them princess dresses if they don't already have them. That plus the birthday button will be sure to grab them some extra birthday attention.

That sounds perfect to me! Believe - twins will certainly be made a fuss over! Enjoy your trip. (oh - ummm - we always love to see pictures. )

The Bibbity, Bobbity Boutique just opened at the Disney Store at the Marketplace. It's a very special salon, just for little girls, to have their hair and nails done by fairy godmothers-in-training. There are several packages you can buy - and they include professional photos (in princess garb, of course).

Re: Birthdays at WDW?

Pumpkin : Thanks, we've got our reservations for the Halloween Party! (I can't remember the last time I've worn a costume!) I can't wait to hear which Princess each girl wants to be (I'm sure it'll change between now and then).

Llama : Thanks, I've seen mention of the Boutique (I don't think it was there during our trip last Memorial Day, or maybe we just missed it). I'm wondering whether the girls will sit still for a "treatment", but it's probably something we'll try.

This will also be our first trip with the digital SLR camera, so I'll be sure to post lots of photos.

There are so many great places to celebrat a birthday. My DS turned 8 on our trip and we went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast and Hoop Dee Doo for dinner.

This site has all the menus, look through them and see if there something she would like.
