All Star Movie Resort
What can anyone tell me about this resort? I have two small children ages 5 and 2, and thought that for them, this would be a great place to stay. I have been to WDW numerous times. I have also stayed at the Contemporary and used the monorail and the Carribbean Beach Resort and have used the buses.
Thanks, Beth

Re: All Star Movie Resort
Our family has stayed at the All-star Movie and music resort. I thought I would have a bias to the music because I am a music teacher, but much prefered the Movie. The movie has a much better and organized set up!!!! It also has a better food area....and much much better pizza. We plan on staying at the movies again in the near future! Plus, I think children would enjoy the statues of any of the all-star resorts.

Re: All Star Movie Resort
We are probably going to stay at Pop Century this year because it has it's own bus services, I have heard that the Allstars all share bus services and it is cheaper than all of the allstars by $100! I have only stayed at Carribbean Beach Resort before!

Re: All Star Movie Resort
the All-Stars do share a bus system, but the All-Stars are all grouped together (we went walking between the three quite often on our last trip). Because of this, the All-Stars often have very speedy bus service. I would say you are adding no more than a couple minutes to trips. For the most part, I believe the stops go in the order of Sports (just realized you can't abbreviate that one too well!), music, movies.
But if you got a cheaper deal with Pop, go you!

Re: All Star Movie Resort
I love All-Star Movies, and I think it is perfect for families with smaller children! I can't imagine being cramped in one of those rooms with preteens/teenagers, but with small children the rooms are an adequate size.
And of course kids (and even adults ) LOVE the theming at Movies! It's great!Don't worry too much about the bus system, we never had any problems or complaints. Even though Movies is the last All-Star to get picked up/dropped off, we rarely had to wait long. And if a bus was full, there was almost always an empty bus right behind it! The only minor problem we found was that the busses seemed to be "understaffed" when it came to the water parks, especially Typhoon Lagoon. We always saw long lines for that bus, and gave up going one day because 2 full busses went by and we were STILL in line! ![]() However, like I say, we had no complaints. The busses to all of the major parks were great...very efficient. I consider the All-Star bus system more efficient than the public transportation here in Orange County, and OCTA is rated the "#1 public transportation" in the country! So no worries!

Re: All Star Movie Resort
Personally, I prefer Pop Century. The buildings are one floor taller and the layout is tighter. You're more likely to have a room that's closer to the busses & food. With small kids, this is not an insignificant consideration.
Also consider that Pop Century does not allow large groups, whereas they are encouraged at the All-Stars. While I really enjoyed the AllStars when we stayed there (twice), we LOVED Pop Century, and even when compared to CBR, Pop Century remains our favorite resort.

Re: All Star Movie Resort
I stayed at the ASmovies a few years back and think it's a great resort for children that age. The larger-than-life characters are AWESOME! That said, please be aware that the rooms are VERY, VERy small. I think it might be tight in there with four people. IF you aren't going to spend much time in the room, than this will be no big deal. If you are one who likes to enjoy your resort and take daily breaks, I suggest going to a moderate like POFQ. This is just my opinion. Many people don't feel crowded with four in that room. I thought the room size was perfect for just me and my DD. The year before than we stayed at ASmusic and brought my mother and I coudln't stand how crowded the room felt with that third person.

Re: All Star Movie Resort
We have done AS Movies, and AS Sports, all are nice, I liked Sports because the bus stops there first, so you get on and get a seat in the morning and first off when you come home!!

Re: All Star Movie Resort
Hi!
The children will enjoy the themed Rooms of course and lots of large character statues dotted around the place. You can use the 3 All Star pools and shops and food halls if you like. Enjoy your holiday, Lynn

Re: All Star Movie Resort
We have stayed at AS Movies twice with small children and they loved it. If we had no kids I would opt for something a little more sedate, but for your age kids its an excellent choice. The pools are great and there is an area for toddlers too. The theming is excellent with lots to see and good opportunities for photos. Also, I thought the food court was very convenient for our family to eat fast with minimal fuss and food my kids would eat. The only down side to these rooms is they are tiny...very tiny. I wish Disney had made them about 60 square foot bigger.

We have stayed at ASMo's and loved it. We never had a problem with the busses.

Re: All Star Movie Resort
we stayed at ASMo once and had a great time! seeing all the larger than life characters, like the gang from Toy Story and Herbie, was phenomenal. ASMo is the last stop on the All Star bus ride but if the little ones fall asleep on the bus on the way back, it's just a few more minutes of shut eye for them. i think the kids will really enjoy ASMo mostly because of the character buildings.

Re: All Star Movie Resort
Up until our last trip, I was a huge advocate of getting 2 rooms at AS Movies. My family really enjoyed it there. However, after the last trip we had there, I cannot recommend it to anyone. (We had our clothes stolen out of the washers at the laundry area and when we complained to the front desk and asked to file a claim, nothing was done. We never did get our clothes. We had to go shopping and buy over $400 worth of clothes to replace the ones that were stolen.) We also were promised a room overlooking the giant Buzz and Woody statues do to several problems, but that never happened. They also told DD and DS that they would get a surprise from their favorite character for their birthday, but that never happened either. I just feel that the quality of service there has declined. I hope that it was just a bad experience, but with all that happened to us, I will not be returning to AS Movies and won't recommend it to any of my friends. I have heard a lot of good things about Pop Century from several people. As for us, I think we have decided that we would rather stay less days and stay in a deluxe than stay at a value for longer. If possible, you might want to consider one of the moderates so that you have more room. If you do decide to stay at AS MOvies, your kids will enjoy the courtyard areas with the large characters. They make for great pictures.
