Something Special for the kids....Any Ideas?
My sister and I were thinking of getting together a basket with Walt Disney items to give to the kids when we get to WDW.
We have been hitting the Disney store and found a ton of stuff marked down with additional 50% off. Great stuff like hats for two bucks, key chains for 50 cents, large stuffed charc. for 5 buck, etc... None of us have ever been to WDW and we were wanting to do something for the kids to make it special. When we arrive we will not have enough time to visit any of the parks that day I dont think so we were trying to think of something special to do for them.... I know they will all think that was way neat and special.... So that was what we came up and we were wondering if you had anyother ideas or what you have done for your kids.... I know that going to WDW is special in its self but wanted to do something since they will be so excited to get there and then all we can do is walk around the hotel when we get there. Thanks |

Disposable camera, Disney dollars, mini-fans w/batteries, small backpack, their own tube of sun block, autograph book and large pen...

What about Glow Sticks, Clow bracelets/neckaces, Disney light spinny thingies (about $15 in the parks!
 I got them from the Disney Store for $2 on sale!), Disney PJ Pals (cheap right now at DisneyShopping!), Disney Swim Suits and towels (if swimming is on your itinerary...they are sooo cheap right now at Disney Shopping!), Disney tee shirts, Disney coloring books, a box of crayons, etc. I could probably go on and on!!!!!!

The basket is a great idea. If there are two adults on the trip, how about after check-in one adult sneeks off to the room and leaves the basket and decorates the room window. While the other takes the kids to the food court or to roam around the gift shop or pool. Won't they be surprised to have a decorated room!!
I decorated our window once for DH birthday. It was great! Will you have enough time to hopover to DTD or Boardwalk? Boardwalk has nighttime street entertainment and if timed right, you can even see some of the fireworks at Epcot. DTD is open late and is a bus ride away from the resorts.

For our last trip we put together a gift bag of items similar to what you're talking about but we also included the little Disney ornaments that are small stockings with Disney Pins inside. They love to trade pins! I got a great deal on them on Ebay. We also included the Disney Coin collector books with a roll of quarters and pennies so they could collect the pressed pennies in the parks.

If you are going to add bathing suits and have a khols near you check them out. We are going in September and I was at khols today and got disney bathing suits... both boys and girls for 80 & 90 % off. My son is into the cars movie... got him swimming truncks for $1.27. Also got mikey and friends, buzz lightyear, stitch, and one more that i do not remember what it was. Those were $ .93. I could not believe it. Girls had a way better selection imagine that..lol. The sale starts today. Also the pj were cheap too. They were also 80% off.

I think those are good ideas. Another good idea is to put the items out a few at a time. One adult could linger behind for a couple of minutes in the morning and leave a few of the "surprises" on the dresser.

I think you should have individual little bags with park items in it in the room. The items people mentioned already are great. You could have a waist pack with park essentials like a small wallet with a few disney dollars, an autograph book and a fat pen. I like the plan with one adult running up to the room and decorating the window and leaving the bags (with names on them) on the bed to the kids from mickey!

I definitely agree with all those who said Disney Dollars and I think some pins are a great idea too. I would also say some lip balm with SPF (I think they even make Disney lip balm, I swear we had a thread about it a while back) and maybe some small snacks that they can carry with them to the parks.
