Port Orleans French Quarter

We were planning to stay at the Poly in January but have decided to stay at the POFQ then and then stay in the Poly in Dec 07 for my birthday trip. The difference was just so much more than we thought it would be in price! We need longer to save our mouse pennies. Anyways, since we had been planning on the Poly, I really don't know that much about POFQ. I picked that one because it seems to be a smaller resort and the theming does look nice. Has anyone stayed here? What was your impression? Good or Bad? I haven't made the reservations yet so I can still change my mind but I think this one will be a good choice. Maybe I can get one of the carriage rides Any thoughts gang?

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter

I've stayed there, and I can say that it's my favorite moderate resort. The themeing, as you know is great, you can share amenities with it's sister resort, POR, and the boat to DtD is very convenient.

The food court is nicely themed and there are some unique choices. There is no sit-down, but POR does have one.

The pool area is themed great, especially for kids, and the grounds at night around the pools and hot tubs are especially magical.

In short, it's no Poly, but I think you'll love it.

POFQ is my favorite resort, I keep wanting to try another but end up booking POFQ! The compact size is a real plus after a long day at the parks everthing is so close. I love building 5, courtyard side.

You mean like when I chose you to be my DC amica per sempre?

To get this thread off the 'jack, and back on track, I'd like to recommend the beignets at POFQ- very delicious.

And if you have children, especially little boys, they'll love the Aligator Bayou section of POR!

Thanks Kizzmitt, now we're hearing the voice of reason!

In all seriousness, while I do like POFQ slightly better, I do love them both and I don't think you could go wrong with either!

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter

I have heard nothing but great things about POFQ, and it's where I plan to stay on my next trip! (I have stayed at the Poly too, it's my favorite, but I totally understand needing more time to save your mouse pennies. The Poly is a big penny-stealer!) The theme at POFQ is beautiful, and I like the fact that it is a slightly smaller, compact resort...that way I won't feel lost all the time!

I am sure you will POFQ!

If you need any help getting excited, this always helps me!:

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter

Thanks guys, you made me feel better about picking this one. I thought it would be a good choice but sometimes it is hard to get a feeling for a place with just pictures. When we go, I want to go check out the other resorts we are thinking about staying at in the future.

Do they have jacuzzi's at POFQ?

Yes there is a jacuzzi at POFQ!

Have fun resort-hopping when you are there, that is one of my favorite parts of going to the World - picking where I'm going to stay next time!

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter

I loved both, POR & FQ. FQ is smaller than POR, and the food court is less chaotic because of that. I agree with Ingamba about the beignets, they were heavenly! They also have monster size ice cream sandwiches, made with your choice of cookie and ice cream!!
