Beach Club Villas as a DVC member or Doubletree Suites?
We are a family of 5. I have a chance to stay either the Beach Club Villas Studio or the DoubleTree Suites. Doubletree Suites includes breakfast every day. DH is concerned about the non maid service at the BCV with 3 kids. I am concerned I will be disappointed not staying on disney property and transportation with the DoubleTree Suites. The two hotels will cost roughly the same (+/- $100.00 for the week). Any thoughts?

do the WDW one!!! beach club is awesome....I may be a bit biased, as it is my favorite resort....and, I don't know a whole lot about DVC stuff...but, if it's a choice between disney or non-disney resort, I'd pick disney everytime....especially if cost is about the same...good luck!

Re: Beach Club Villas as a DVC member or Doubletree Suites?
Staying off-site cannot be compared to staying on-site - for the convenience of transportation alone. Plus the added perks of early morning and late hours in the parks. Plus The Boardwalk just across the lake (a quick walk).
If you are staying on points, it is true that you don't get daily maid service - you get towel and trash service in the middle of the week - but if you're simply reserving a suite and paying for it, you do get daily maid service. Is "space" a big issue for you? Because a studio suite at BCV is the size of a large guest room. In fact, it sleeps 4 - unless the 5th is a child under 3.

Re: Beach Club Villas as a DVC member or Doubletree Suites?
I can understand your dilema. We are DVC owners and staying 5 people in a studio seems kind of cramped, but there is no comparrison to staying on WDW property! Give it a shot.
If you don't mind me asking, what are the ages of your children? DH and I have two girls 2 & 3 and they go to bed before us so a Studio right now is not an option. We would be tossing and turning in our beds trying to get to sleep, (even if we are exhausted from a long day) so we wanted a one bedrooms villa for the time being. It also will give us a little "Down time" to recoup from little ones and relax for a bit before turning in. However, if your kids are older and you can all go to bed around the same time, then that will make a huge difference. Good luck!

Re: Beach Club Villas as a DVC member or Doubletree Suites?
We're also DVC members and are actually trying to rent a studio for a few nights next spring at BCV. I would for sure say make reservations for the Beach Club. You'll be happy with your decision. The location and the pool alone make it one of the best resorts for families on Disney property. A studio may be a little on the tight side for a family of 5, but we've found other hotels can't compare to any of the DVC resorts. Let us know what you decide.

Kids will be 3, 8 and 11. So, size of room is a consideration, but how much time do you actually spend IN your room when you are at disney?
I do think you are all right, Disney property is the best. . . Thanks for you input.

Allow me to restate the above thoughts. Stay at the beach club. The pool alone will rock the children's world.
Don't make me come up there............

Re: Beach Club Villas as a DVC member or Doubletree Suites?
Nothing beats staying on property...no way. Free breakfast or not. I would stay at the BW and tell the kids to keep it clean. Make them pick up after themselves. Being on vacation isn't permission to be messy in my opinion. Tell DH that the lack of maid isn't worse than crappy transportation to and from the parks. I haven't heard many positive things about their transportation.

I'm guessing you won't be spending much time in your room anyways. With kids that age, you'll be out by the pool all day! They'll never want to leave.

Re: Beach Club Villas as a DVC member or Doubletree Suites?
I just stayed at the Double Tree. It was very close to Downtown Disney, we walked there, and busses run every 30 minutes to the parks. We had no problems wih the transportation. The room was huge, and the service was execellent. I think it is a great value for the money, and I give it my stamp of approval.

Re: Beach Club Villas as a DVC member or Doubletree Suites?
Based on my stay at OKW and at the Beach Club Resort, I'd say, do the Beach Club Villas. You'll walk to Epcot. You'll walk to the Boardwalk. If you're up to it, you can walk to MGM. You only have to share your bus with the Yacht, which is really the same hotel anyway.
(Why do I post late into these threads?)
