Re: Pros and Cons of the Cabins at Ft wilderness

I have heard people talk about the water pageant lately so I believe it is still running.

I would say the cabins have a nice space but having to go "outside" to get things would be a con.

Re: Pros and Cons of the Cabins at Ft wilderness

No cons, only pros!!!

Separate bedroom/living room
Kitchen with all the comforts of home
BIG bathroom
No noisy neighbors next to/above/below/running down the hall
Private deck to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner or relax under the stars
Tons of activities for kids (barnyard, canoes, marshmellow roast, etc)
Park your car 9.5 feet from your door
Boat to Magic Kingom (Fraction of the crowds seen on bus or monorail after Wishes)
Trading posts for quick grocery items

The list is endless!!!!

Re: Pros and Cons of the Cabins at Ft wilderness

We have only stayed in the campground, but are looking at a cabin for next Sept. as DM would like to stay near us. First trip for mom since 1976. From what I have found, cabins are great. They are spacious, rustic, and inviting.

You can save a few bucks by cooking some of your own meals if you wish. Plus tons to do at FW. Boat to MK is fun and quicker than a bus. Water pageant is still running, plus you can see parts of Wishes from the beach.

The only con I can think of is that they are pricey. They cost as much as some deluxe resorts.

Re: Pros and Cons of the Cabins at Ft wilderness

The lgiht pagent is still definately there. The only con to me would be the size of the place and the transportation to and from the parks. You have to take bauses to get around inside the place and that can make getting to the parks a bit longish to me. The plus side is all the activities they have going on at that place! They have to have the most in all of WDW. You honestly could find enough to do just there and never have to enter a park....as if..lol

the cabins are great. the only drawback is that you are literally in the middle of nowhere...rent a golfcart and you will be fine

Yeah, that came out right. I meant go outside a building to get to dining options vs say down a hall.

Don't mind me.

I loved that. Zooming around on golf carts in Fort Wilderness was one of my favorite activitites.

Re: Pros and Cons of the Cabins at Ft wilderness

I would say cons would be the affordability of it; I would think you would prefer to have a car (rented?) and a golf cart (rented?) so there could be quite an expense with it. But I would think the privacy and fun would be very big pros!!! If you can afford it and you like the outdoors go for it!!!!

These have always looked like a fun place to stay. I think they are economical if you have 5 or 6 in your family.

Re: Pros and Cons of the Cabins at Ft wilderness

I've never been to the cabins. Are they buggy? I've always avoided camping and staying anywhere that brings images of bugs and scary outdoor things (I'm very much an indoor kind of girl )

Like everything else at WDW, the bugs are animatronic.

The cabins are in a campground, so there are some forms of "wildlife", but the rustic is "Disney" rustic, more of an illusion than anything else. You should be relatively bug free. I can't speak for geckos. Geckos have minds of their own.
