2 stay or go?
So, we arrive at the world at 2ish on a Thursday afternoon with ADR's for Whispering Canyon at 2:40PM. My question is, once done eating, would you start out slow & just hang at WL & swim & explore the hotel, since it will be our first time there, or go all out & hit Epcot or MK for the rest of the night??
We're there 9 nights, so there's plenty of time, but just wondering what you would do. thanks.

Start out slow! Let that anticipation REALLY build! The WL is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO amazing - and that is not even a SLIGHT exaggeration!! Unpack! Enjoy the pool, watch the geyser right outside the lobby! Look at the really cool bubbly thing IN the lobby, buy stuff in the gift shop, and HAVE FUN!!

yeah I say start ouf slow too. I wish we had the luxury of being able to take an extended vacation like that. Our trips are 3-4 days so we have to squeeze in as much as we can

I would hit the parks!! I wouldn't be able to contain myself! i love the parks at night and would love to walk through world showcase or ride some rides at MK while the lines are shorter and it's not so hot!

I would just enjoy the resort. That's what we do every trip. We take the first day REALLY slow...do some grocery shopping, go out to dinner, unpack, explore the resort...and then we hit the parks the next day!

We're arriving at WL in December around 1 PM and I decided to take it slow. The only thing I "planned" for that day was dinner at Spoodles, but nothing else. I figure we can explore the resort, hop over to dinner and check out the boardwalk scene. With a long trip like 9 days, there should be plenty of park time! Besides, you pay enough for the room, you may as well enjoy it one day!

Since you have a nice long trip planned, stay and take in the resort. But you are just a boat ride away from the MK, should you not be able to stay away!

I think the question I'd ask you is, do you have an annual pass or a limited number of days ticket? If I had my way, I'd at least go over to the MK for Wishes. If you don't have enough days of tickets, watch Wishes from the Poly. Ride the monorail to Epcot around the time Illuminations happens, if you time it right, you'll loop around Spaceship Earth as the fireworks are exploding. But if you do have enough tickets, go into one of the parks sometime during the day. Besides, you'll get plenty of use out of the room when you start taking breaks during the day and going back to the room.

I say if you feel tired, then stay and relax by the pool... But if you're way too excited for sitting around, then go to the parks!!

Normally we grab something to eat at the hotel and go right to Epcot and ride Test Track, normally we get into WDW around 11, this year due to a layover flight more around 12-12:30

We usually hit AK on our arrival day since you get do just about everything there in 1/2 a day. If you are tired from your trip, then relaxing by the pool and enjoying your hotel would be the thing to do. If you are excited and ready to hit a park, then I would do that. It also depends on the number of days on your ticket. If you have a 9 day ticket, it is only a few dollars more to upgrade to the 10 day ticket so that you could go hit the parks on your first day. If you have an AP, then it really doesn't matter. You could do as Soundgog suggested and go for Wishes.

We usually don't get there until midnight - so parks aren't an option. But I'd take it slow - the resorts are part of the whole Disney vacation experience. Relax, swim, ANTICIPATE!
