Savannah Rooms
We flock to the parks early and leave late. What time do the animals come out, to where it would be worth it to us to see them in the morning from our room?
Also is it worth the extra cost?

Re: Savannah Rooms
The savannah rooms are more expensive than the standard room, but worth every penny. The animals are out very early in the morning. They clean on of the savannah's at a time during the afternoon, so there may be an hour or more where there isn't any animals, but you'll be at the parks I'm sure so it won't matter. If there is ever a time where there aren't in your savannah, you can easily see all the amimals in one of the adjoining savannahs...there are always animals out somewhere. My favorite look out point is the one behind the pool area. You can see almost all of them from there.
If you are going to request a building, request the Zebra trail overlooking the main savannah in the center...best view in my opinion.

Re: Savannah Rooms
I say yes, they are definitely worth the extra cost. It's going to add soooo much more to your trip if you are able to look right out your window and see the animals. While I'm sure it's still "magical" to stay in standard rooms, I can't imagine it. You'll be so much more immersed in the magic if you're in a savannah room!

Re: Savannah Rooms
We loved the savannah rooms! There is nothing like them! We loved watching the animals in the morning before the kids woke up. Its a great experience...and a must do on our list!

Re: Savannah Rooms
On both of our stays at AKL we found the animals to be most active in the early morning (right after they're fed) and at dusk. I think it's absolutely worth the money to get the savanna room. We got a free upgrade on our first stay, but paid for the upgrade for our second stay. Absolutely worth it.
I agree with Dana's Zebra Trail, Arusha Savanna suggestion. It's the best.

Re: Savannah Rooms
It is well worth the cost for the Savannah room. The animals are out very early in the morning, and are very active. Yjey go in in the afternoon for a gew hours and then atr back in the late afternoon. Very enjoyable to sit there on the balcony and watch them.

Re: Savannah Rooms
Highly recommend, at night, send the kids to the game room, including DH, grab a bottle of wine and sit out on the balcony watching the animals. I know a lot say they are active in the early morning, but it's very interesting watching them at night, cause the animals are more "cautious" and quiet. So, one minute they are right in front of you, and then the next, all of them are moved around.

Re: Savannah Rooms
Thanks for the insights. I think after our Dec. 2006 stay at SSR I will reserve AKL with the Savannah. My goal is too try it all at the world.
