payment on room only reservation

Hi,
We have annual passes, so we always get room only reservations.

In the past, and when I made this reservation, I paid my deposit and was told the remaining amount will be due upon arrival. Today, I received a letter from Disney about a county tax increase, but I noticed also a note on my reservation that the remainder of my "package" had to be paid by a certain date, 21 days prior to arrival.

I guess I'll have to call WDW to find out, but I'm curious if anyone else who makes room only reservations has received this notice and if it's something new, or an error??

This is definitely a room only reservation. No park tickets, no dining plan, nothing but room!!

Thanks.

Frank

Re: payment on room only reservation

The last time I had a room only reservation, I paid in advance...in full. I think you have the option to do either, but you should call to see what's up with that. The word "package" would prompt me to call as you only have a room only. Are the amounts correct?

I paid for room only in advance last time too, but I'm pretty sure they did tell me that the balance was due on arrival.

If this is something new, it's the first I've heard about it.

We have room only reservation for Nov. and so far we didn't get a notice of any kind. I tried paying off our balance a couple months ago but they won't let me because I made our ressies on line.

Re: payment on room only reservation

Hi fjs

I always make room only reservations and usually only pay the deposit. I've only paid the full amount before arriving once. I have never received a notice like that one. I have always been given the OK to pay once we get there.

Re: payment on room only reservation

The notice was just in the middle of the reservation sheet. It wasn't a separate note. I just called and the CM at Central Reservations said I'm not the only one calling about this and she didn't know why it was on there. She said that room only reservations need a deposit and the remainder can be paid at the time of arrival. Hummm. I've thought about this and since I'll use a credit card, and whether I pay early or upon arrival, the amount paid won't be due until my next billing cycle, I don't think I'll "chance" it. The last thing I want is to get there and not have a room.

I was thinking the same think, you don't want to risk your reservation.

Re: payment on room only reservation

I had that happen and I called too. I was told they didn't know why I was sent that, they offered to send out a new copy. I said yes, I'd rather have something in print in my hand. But before that happened a code came out and since I rebooked, I got a modified copy anyway. This notice had nothing about paying by a certain date.

Re: payment on room only reservation

I got a notice yesterday on my room only ressie but says nothing about the money being due.
Last year it was due at check in and I was told the same thing this year.

I also got a note like this once and called and the CM said it was an error and full payment was due at check in.

Re: payment on room only reservation

About a year ago, WDW started printing on all room only reservations that the balance is due before you check in. I can't remember if it is 21 days or a month before. Technically, it is due at check in, and no one can explain to me why they are printing that on all confirmations. My guess is that they are hoping people pay in advance, wether it is to gain the interest on all that money or the fact that people pay in advance show up more often than those who don't, I don't know.

Just ignore it, and pay when you show up.

Re: payment on room only reservation

All my recent trips have been for a day or two and set up at the last minute. So, without exception, when I've made my reservations, I've been within the period where I'm paying one day even if I cancel. At least Disney will let you modify your reservation, which I guess means, you don't get your money back, but you can book for a later date and not loose your money.
