Have your kids ever had the "disney cough?"

It seems every time we go, both kids end up with a dry cough for like 3-5 days. Anyone else have this happen? It only happens at WDW, & we've heard other little ones with the same cough when we've been there. Maybe they're agitated by teh A/C in the rooms, or too much pixie dust??

Nope, I can't say that I've noticed my DS with a cough at WDW.

Re: Have your kids ever had the "disney cough?"

It's all the pixie dust. hehe.

I am nto a kid but it seems like after the first night, and for about the following 3 days I ALWAYS get a sore throat! Daniel always gets sinus problems too, which is very uncharacteristic of him.

Re: Have your kids ever had the "disney cough?"

It's probably NOT the AC unit. Doctors recommend that you sit in an AC environment when you have a sore throat/cold b/c it filters out any allergins or any thing else in the air that my irritate it. Maybe there are different allergins/irritants in the air in FL than at home that cause the sore throat?

Do you fly? Make sure the kids are hydrated on the plane?

Re: Have your kids ever had the "disney cough?"

I haven't notice my KIDS getting it...but *I* get it... but I chock it up to the following:

1) Late nights prior to trip doing all the last minute things required - packing, laundry, more packing, house cleaning, making dog-care arrangements, packing, checking the disney boards to see what's the latest news...and just be anxious and excited about the trip so I can't sleep.

2) getting up super early to catch our flight and drag all the paraphanelia required by three small children who don't carry there own stuff yet.... Getting through airport security alone with 2 carseats, 2 strollers, with diaper bags and the kids themselves is enough to stress you out....

3) Then, breathing all that recirculating air on a packed flight--sharing the air and germs with other fatigued travelers...I must always get a minor sickness...

4) Then, once at Disney, I'm burning the candle at both ends trying to stick to our touring plans and making sure everyone else is having a good time... I'm the last one in our party to sleep... with sleep interupted by my youngest's waking throughout the night...and I'm the first one up to get myself ready so I can ready the others and get us out the door for another adventure...

I generally end up with a slight sniffle and a bit of a sore throat...nothign to hold me back too much--but enough to slow me down a speck... I'd like not to get it!!!

We're the exact same way, except we drive, not fly. But while reading this I was thinking, if you're not a Disney person you have to ask yourself, "Is this really a vacation??" Those of us that "get" Disney, thrive on it!!

Oh yes! It's the best possible vacation...I'd hate to be stuck on a beach every day for a whole week...a day or two...fine...then I'd get antsy... I like to be on the go, and don't like to miss anything!!!!!

Re: Have your kids ever had the "disney cough?"

My DD has a minor cough all fall and winter long, so I honestly couldn't say. She has asthma, so she carries a minor cold all the time. I'll be able to tell next summer when we go then. Being around all those people all day long and in closed areas would make germs fly all over I suppose...I not totally shocked people come home with a touch of something.

Disney is the only place where the kids seem to stay healthy, during and after the trip! Whew... just another reason to go there!
