Making airfare reservations vs resort reservations
I was going to make my reservations to stay at CBR Dec 26 thru Jan 3 today and was wondering, if I wait until 3/31/03 to purchase my airfare will I have a problem getting a resonable price from Chicago (ohare or midway) to Orlando. I was hoping to fly SW out of Midway, but am afraid that if I wait until they are posted (website), all of the other airlines better priced flight will dry up. If the SW website only goes up until Sept, does this mean that the reservation desk wont have them either. At this time, is it more important to get my airfare or resort reservations taken care of. Dreams Unlimted Travel said that they would hold my confirmation until 3/31/03 when $200 deposit is due. Please pass on any thoughts or advice you may have.

Tough one! I always make my reservations at least 10 to 12 months in advance (Air and resort). My travel agent use to handle everything and she would watch the flights for me and call once in awhile with prices and I would decide what and when to purchase. She would usually nudge me saying that in her opinon they probably wouldn't get lower or she would say "Wait a few more weeks they may go down" and it usually worked out. One time we were going to Arizona (From NY) and the flights were like 350.00 per person RT. She kept checking the web sites and came up with a Delta fare of 195.00 per person RT naturally we jumped on it. Now she just books my resorts and I book the flights on line because her agency now chargges like 30.00 a ticket to book flights! with my family that's an extra 120.00!

I would say the hotel reservation is the most important. Hotel's fill up very quickly. This far out I think you could always get a decent airfare. Remember, the airlines are hurting for business and they will be making some deals. Good luck.

:) I live in Chicago and I always book my Disney hotel FIRST. ATA is a good suggestion out of Midway, and wait until a little closer to your departure you can always snag a sale! Another great deal airline is Spirit Airline out of O'Hare. Good Luck!! ajbdk5
