What's a Good Room at Wilderness Lodge?

When we first booked our July 2007 vacation we just went for a Standard Room Room. DH said, "what the heck" so we upgraded to a Courtyard View.

I know Disney can't guarantee a certain requested room, but for all who have stayed a WL, what do you think is the best room/location? What room would you put a special request in for? Are there any rooms from which you can see the Wishes fireworks from MK or the Light Parade on the lake?

Re: What's a Good Room at Wilderness Lodge?

More questions...were ALL of the rooms at the WL refurbished? How do you know which balconies are "open" as opposed to "closed" where you can't see thru the balcony?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Re: What's a Good Room at Wilderness Lodge?

I think the 6th and 7th floors have inclosed balconies but I don't know if it's all of the rooms on those floors. THere are also some rooms on the far end of the U shape closest to Bay Lake that have a stone balcony.

We have stayed at WL twice and really like the inner courtyard rooms and our very favorite was right off the main lobby. We were at the bottom of the U shape in one of the rooms that makes up the "Bear Face" you sometimes hear about.

Re: What's a Good Room at Wilderness Lodge?

We've stayed there twice. Oddly, I'm pretty sure the rooms were across the hall from each other. I'll have to correct this when I get home, but 5819 is a pool/courtyard view and 5820 is a woods view that overlooks the side waterway from Bay Lake to Seven Seas Lagoon, and if you are lucky to not have too many branches in your way, you'll have a semi-obstructed view of the Contemporary and the Castle. I wouldn't think you'd get the best views of Wishes from anywhere at the Wilderness.

I agree that that almost anywhere in the inner courtyard area is perfect.
Those "closed" blaconies really can put on the damper for you if you like to relax and sighsee on your patio.

Re: What's a Good Room at Wilderness Lodge?

I had the 5th floor courtyard view when I was there once upon a time ago. It was the ideal location to me. I could see the water pagent from balcony.

That would be nice to be able to see the water pageant from the balcony. Not that we plan on spendng every night in our room, but on that possible occassion where we do call it an early evening, it would be nice.

It was really cool to see it from there. WE didn't see it every night cause we weren't always in the room at that time, but did get the pleasure of seeing it our first night. I had no idea...all of a sudden we heard music and my DD went out to the balcony to see what it was and there is was..lol Talk about a little taste of unexpected magic.

That's what I was thinking about. Our first night will probably be an early one since we'd be up from 4:00am for an early AM flight. I think in the summer the water pageant is around 9:30 or so, and by the time it would get to WL we're talking somewhere around 10pm. Right?

Anyone have specific room numbers they would suggest for a good view?

Re: What's a Good Room at Wilderness Lodge?

We had inner courtyard rooms 4077 (2 queens) and 4075 (king) a couple of years ago. We could see Bay Lake very well from our rooms off the lobby (at the bottom of the U).

Any room in the courtyard floor 4 and up is perfect. the lower floors may have an obstucted view. Tell them at check in or on your reservation that you specifically want a view of the water ...they will know which room to give you. They also have lagoon views if I am correct...at least I read that in the unoffical and they also have an MK view where you can see the MK fireworks.

Thanks, Dana. Maybe we'll give them a call soon so they can put the request into our reservations.

Re: What's a Good Room at Wilderness Lodge?

There are two courtyard views, the view of the main pool/Bay Lake and another view of the Villas. We had the villa view last summer and asked to more to an inner courtyard view the next day. You may want to at least request an inner courtyard view.

I didn't know that steph. I don't think the villas were done when I was there. Thank you for pointing that out.
