Re: Love Bugs

We went Sept. 16 to Sept. 24 this year and the bugs were everywhere. They were all over our door when we came back in the evening and they would go around in the morning with a leafblower and blow them away as best they could.

My Mother-in-law absolutely HATED them and I absolutely LOVED that fact!!!!

Sorry, went to my happy place there 4 a minute.....

I had never before heard reference to the Love Bug, although, now that I've seen a picture http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...oflovebugs.jpg, it strikes a familiar chord.

It seems to me that if you're driving, they could be a nuisance, but for the most part, you may not even notice them as they don't bite/sting. Just make sure not to sit on them...

They're also not out at night....
We were there in late-September and they were EVERYWHERE.

I have to say that even though they don't bite or sting, they are most certainly noticeable and more than a nuisance.

They're so busy with the "love" part of being a lovebug that they don't look where they're flying and don't care where they land. They also don't "shoo" as easily as a fly.

When they're really heavy, you can spend your entire day walking through the park swatting them away and off of your clothes, and a good deal of time cleaning off the tram seat just to find a clear spot to sit.

Re: Love Bugs

We always went in mid September, and although I saw them each time, they didn't bother me.....

but if they would bother you, you would probably notice them a LOT more

Re: Love Bugs

The first time we ever went to Disney World (which is usually the last week of August) We arrived at the Movies and were like what the heck are these things they were all over the place. The worst thing is when they land in your beer after a couple a days we adapted and used our resort mugs for everything. The folowing years we never saw one.
