Icon11 Wilderness Lodge Villas

We are now considering a 1 bdrm villa at the Wilderness Lodge. Instead of the Poly... seems to solve our problems. Convient to MK with boat.... and can do the food plan while having kitchen for kids!
Any thoughts?

I have never seen the villas at WL but the Wilderness Lodge is AMAZING!!!! I will never forget the first time I walked into there. It was breath taking! Totally on our list of places to stay.

We've stayed in the 1 BR villa on two occasions and love it!

This was the view from our balcony:

I'd stay there every trip if it were up to me and I had unlimited funds!

Re: Wilderness Lodge Villas

We will be in a 1 bedroom at VWL in 14 days. This is our 2nd annual Early Christmas present trip to the Wilderness Lodge. The whole family is really excited and can't wait to drive up to the Lodge. What a magnificent sight.
We will definitely be taking advantage of the kitchen. We are planning to eat breakfast in room and at least one dinner. We have friends who will be at the campgrounds while we are there so we are going to have them over for dinner. Trying to save a little dough on the meals. Don't you know.

Re: Wilderness Lodge Villas

Did you find the transportation easy from there - boat & bus vs monorail?
going with a 2 and 3 yr old. The space seems perfect and mine will be n bed by dinner so I plan to feed them mac & Cheese in the room.

Re: Wilderness Lodge Villas

I will be at the Wilderness Lodge soon!!! We are staying in a studio though not a one bedroom. I hope the transporation will go well. When we stayed at Fort Wilderness last year the boats were a little slow, of course that was over the fourth of July so everything was slow and HOT! I can't wait for a January trip!

Re: Wilderness Lodge Villas

When are you going? We will be arriving there in less than three weeks and will be staying in a two bedroom villa at VWL. We have always stayed at SSRS (and have always enjoyed every minute) and decided to try something new.

I have 4 kids, 10, 8, 8 and 2. The transportation was fine for us. There will always be times when you have to wait a little but it wasn't a bad wait for the boat or bus for us.

Re: Wilderness Lodge Villas

WE are going in early Feb and also have booked the flights, but not rooms... it's been between 1 room at poly 1 bdroom villa at WCV or we can also get a 1 bdroom villa at boardwalk - which I have heard is great. It is our first trip to Disney and our kids are 31/2 & 2 1/2? WE want easy and space.

Re: Wilderness Lodge Villas

Well given the kids ages I would say that Magic Kingdom would be most appealing for them. Both the Poly and WL are MK resorts. The boardwalk is beautiful and has easy access to Epcot and MGM. Another plus that we thought of for staying at the villas is that we will have a refrigerator for all the food we can't eat on the meal plan. I know I will not be able to eat my dessert at dinner but I can take it to the room for a midnight snack.

We're staying in a studio in February, and from what I can tell, it's so beautiful.

That resort is gorgeous...I think you'll love it.

I don't have small children, but I didn't have any trouble with the boat. You can always hop the boat to the Contemporary and take the Monorail from there.

The boat is FUN! We have 2 older children, and one small one, and she LOVED the boat ride. She thought she was gettin' her ride on.

Although, she considers the monorail the BEST part of WDW, so...
