Christmas Lights at the Resorts?

Anyone know if you can decorate your balcony with Christmas lights or does Disney frown on this? I don't recall seeing any last Christmas visit, but we weren't specifically looking either.

I can guarantee that Disney would frown on this.

Sorry I do not know for sure the answer to your question but personally I cannot see why it would cause a stir. I think it's quite a nice idea myself.

Because Disney works very hard to create a magical environment, an environment where a person's own extra touches might look horribly tacky on a balcony. And since you can't tell one person "yes" and another "no," you have to tell everyone no.

EXCEPT at Fort Wilderness. I hear that gets pretty awesome with each campsite decorated by it's guests.

Re: Christmas Lights at the Resorts?

mmmmmm had not really thought about what it would look like if everyone did this. Thinking about it now, I guess it would be better if you did not 'bring your own'. Anyway, why bother with the hassle when Disney do the job for you on a fabulous scale! Cavey....I hate to admit it but your right

Disney policy (when I was a CM) is that as long as you are not damaging property it is ok....

Re: Christmas Lights at the Resorts?

By no means would this make or break our vacation!!!!

It was something we pondered as we started packing. We might just use them to decorate the living room, etc.

We are trying to sort out how we can bring along a small tree. The van will be packed - so we might make a quick stop off at Target once we arrive.

Re: Christmas Lights at the Resorts?

The last time I was at WDW during the holiday season was for Christmas
1999. I can tell you that I saw lights strung from a few balconies during our stay at the Yacht Club. I say go for it if you want.

Re: Christmas Lights at the Resorts?

I'm batting .000 today.

I think I'm having a bad MB-karma day.

Although, I'm glad I've been wrong on both counts.

I don't think we're necessarily wrong. I bet it's "frowned on," even if they don't do anything about it.

I think a small tree in your room is a nice touch. Just don't put a six-foot inflatable snow globe on your balcony.

Re: Christmas Lights at the Resorts?

We've been to WDW during the Christmas season on two trips and each time, we saw many resort rooms, windows and balconies decorated iwth garland, Christmas tres, lights, etc.

We're going to be there a year from now (Christmas 2007) and we're planning on putting up our own tree.

Re: Christmas Lights at the Resorts?

I may be a Scrooge about this, but I would prefer to see the WDW themed lights instead of personal lights. I know it sounds harsh, but I think it would actually interfere with the magic of the theme!

I think that if you need more lights than they already have in place, maybe keep them inside the room???

Re: Christmas Lights at the Resorts?

We go for Mousefest every year and we have a decorating contest between the rooms. Someone in our group goes around from hotel to hotel and takes pictures of all the decorations we put on our doors, in our windows, etc, and we vote on the pictures afterwards.

So it is definitely allowed.

How about if I made garland with empty beer cans and put candles in empty beer bottles on the balcony?

Would they frown on that?
