Port Orleans Riverside

Just found out that I will be staying at the Port Orleans Riverside in January for the marathon. Has anybody ever stayed there? Any thing I need to know? Transportation tips?

Thanks

Re: Port Orleans Riverside

I've stayed there 3 times and love it. There are several bus stops around the perimeter road and I've never had to wait too long for the bus. You can also take the boat to DTD.
Some rooms are kind of a long hike to the food court area, but to me it's not too bad.
I'd stay again anytime! You'll love it!

It is soo peaceful and calm..we didnt get to do much resort sightseeing because it rained all 3 days we were there..we will def. stay there again!
Also we stayed in the mansion rooms and they were so romantic

You'll love it!!! The rooms are decorated absolutely adorable and the lobby/restaurant area are beautiful. The grounds of the place are amazing!! We stayed in Building 24 which was a hike but a very nice walk.

Re: Port Orleans Riverside

SDuncan, you lucky person!!!

POR is the absolute best resort around! Here is why!

1. Piano Bar Bob in the lobby bar in the evenings... free excellent entertainment!

2. Fresh homemade cinnamon rolls each morning, and fresh tossed-to-order caesar salads during the day!

3. Your choice of counter service or sit-down meals.

4. Great pool area called Ol' Man Island. Also includes hot tub, bar area, slide and incredible play area.

5. Alligator Bayou section is themed like the swampy Louisiana backwaters... it's our favorite place to stay! We love Buildings 14, 15, 16 and 18 in that order... request them!

6. Magnolia Bend is the other section of POR and it is themed to look like the big old mansions of the Deep South.

7. You have resort swapping privileges with Port Orleans French Quarter.

8. You have fantastic boat service to POFQ and Marketplace! So fun!

9. Bus service to the theme parks, the TTC and the water parks is excellent.

10. The grounds are absolutely lovely and relaxing, and the theming is the most Disney-ish of any resort!

You have made a great choice!!!

We recently stayed there for the first time and we really loved it. We have already booked our next trip and plan on staying there again. In fact, we have requested the same room!! Enjoy!

Have a great time! I will be staying at the POFQ and have read up on both parts of the resort. Sounds like a really beautiful place.
