Swan or Dolphin?

The Swan and Dolphin resorts have released their discounts dates for teachers and nurses for 2007. Which one would you select and why? We are a family of 5, will we be able to fit in one room?

Re: Swan or Dolphin?

According to both the unofficial and the official, the rooms sleep five. You should be fine there. I have never stayed at either, but if I had to choose, I would pick the swan. Not really sure why, but the picutres seems more appealing to me than the dolphin.

Re: Swan or Dolphin?

I prefer the color scheme and over all feel of the Swan a bit more then the Dolphin. However, there are more resturants and such in the Dolphin. Since they are about 100 yards from each other, and a stones throw from both the Y&BC and the Boardwalk, the resturant issue really isn't!

You will enjoy whichever you go with.

Re: Swan or Dolphin?

Your choice is strictly going to be beased on which things are important to you.

The Swan has 2 queens and the Dolphin has 2 doubles. However, those doubles are only like an inch or two smaller than the queens. Reportedly not a noticeable difference in size. You may prefer to have the larger beds, or you may prefer to have more space in which it put a rollaway (with 5 people, I think I'd choose the doubles)

The Swan is smaller and has less amenities. The Dolphin has the laundry and many more choices for restaurants. Some people prefer the smaller size of the Swan, some prefer to have more choices available at the Dolphin.

The color schemes are slightly different.

Either way, it's a great deal. We don't even think of going anywhere else now. Getting a deluxe resort at those prices is hard to beat.

And the location? Wow!

Re: Swan or Dolphin?

I've stayed at Dolphin 5 times now, we'll be staying at Swan over New Year's. I'm not sure if there are any real differences. They both have the same management team and ownership. They are more like the symbiotic relationship of Yacht/Beach than say, Poly and Grand Floridian. The biggest differences are Dolphin has some balconies while Swan has none. Many of the Dophin's balconies face Epcot and the Boardwalk. Swan either faces Dolphin or MGM (through trees). Dolphin is much bigger than Swan. Both hotels went through extensive refurbs over the summer. My opinion is, you won't go wrong whichever you choose, and they are deluxe resorts that usuallly cost only slightly more than Disney's mods.

Re: Swan or Dolphin?

The Dolphin has WAY, and I mean WAY, more amenities -- restaurants, pool stuff, spas, counter service stuff, plus the lobby and grounds ar ein credible! I felt the Swam really paled by comparison!

Nope. Swan has balconies. We've stayed in them. The one we had faced the boardwalk, some face the walkway between the two hotels.

I just looked at aerial pics and I am wrong. There are balconies in the finger buildings, just like the Dolphin.

Re: Swan or Dolphin?

I haven't stayed at either, but I have visited both and can say that I would choose the Dolphin over the Swan. (Simply for amenities, as others have said.)

Though they are so close to each other, it really doesn't matter all that much...you can easily walk between the two if desired.

Re: Swan or Dolphin?

They are both great, and you can not go wrong with either one.

BTW, where did you find the dates for the discounts??? We are still trying to piece together a trip for January or February.

Re: Swan or Dolphin?

One of the best places for rate info is, like dining, AllEarsNet.com. They also have All Ears discounts at Swolphin.

Re: Swan or Dolphin?

Ive been both. Dolphin has a large convention center which puts a lot of stuffed shirts around. We did have a ground floor patio room there though which was nice.

As far as the five people in a room, they sometimes have a deal for the adjoining room as well...
