Re: POR or POFQ
POR Pros...Full service restaurant, larger, more pools, bayou rooms are quiet.
Cons...Further from Downtown, more walking POFQ pros...Transport, small intimate resort, good theming, main pool is nice Cons. No restaurant, food court can be crowded, sometimes long walk t lot. All things even, Id choose POR. But its close... |

Re: POR or POFQ
I haven't been there yet. But we have booked the POFQ over the POR because there are a lot less rooms so it's on a smaller scale. Also from what I understand the busses pick up at POFQ first so they aren't as crowded as they would be if you are catching them at POR.

Re: POR or POFQ
From what I understand the POR food court will be closed for a bit.

Re: POR or POFQ
We have only stayed at POFQ (our only trip) and we LOVED IT!!! The small size was great for us--it took only a few minutes to walk anywhere in the resort. The pool was great for our little kids (3 and 5). The service was always friendly, it was never too crowded or too loud. The food court was convient and all we needed there.
POR looked really nice. The grounds were very pretty and the pool looked like lots of fun esp for kids older than ours (there are also several 'quiet' non-themed pools as well). The food court was considerably more crowded, but it is a much larger resort with more guests We shared busses with POR about half the time. We never had to leave anyone at POR because there wasn't enough room, but there were times when the POR guests had to stand. We were first on from the resorts to the parks, and first off when we returned from the parks. I picked POFQ because it was our first trip and my DH was really concerned about how crowded and hectic things would be all the time . I didn't want to pick a huge resort and turn him off of future WDW vitits, lol ![]() The one night we walked around POR he said he really liked it, but was happy with the slower pace and lighter crowds at POFQ. Not that POR was wall to wall people, it was just busier ![]()

Re: POR or POFQ
POFQ for me. I like the small size of the resort and the customer service there is the best I have ever experienced on WDW property. I also like that you are picked up and dropped off first when sharing a bus and boat with POR.

Re: POR or POFQ
I prefer POFQ too. I wasn't as impressed with the theming at POR. The whole ambience at POFQ makes me want to stay there at least once.

Re: POR or POFQ
I like them both but have stayed at POR the past 4 trips I have gone on. Even though it wasn't always my original plan to stay at POR when I started planning, I always end up back there.
My last trip was my first stay in the Bayou rooms and they were super cute. If you have kids, they will definitely love the theming there (and if they are anything like my little cousins, they will also like looking for lizards and frogs on the walk from our bus stop back to the room!)

Re: POR or POFQ
We have only done POR, because we have 3 kids, and they offer rooms with a trundle bed. This is a must if you can't fit everyone into 2 double beds!! We love POR and are staying there next year.

Re: POR or POFQ
It's no secret that my family is POR crazy! We love it... still call it Dixie Landings, cause it's the right thing to do...
We love everything about this place. And since you can always go over to the POFQ pool, why not stay at the resort with more amenities? You have a choice of sit-down or food court, Piano Bar Bob, Ol' Man Island pool and play area, incredible theming... the bus service is shared by both resorts, boat service is shared by both resorts too...

Re: POR or POFQ
There sure are alot of people here who love both resorts.
Thanks for the input everyone. Which resort has the best pool? Is it Ol Man Island at POR? Is the pool still good at POFQ and do you have rights to go to the other resort's pool? There are just so many good places to stay at WDW that it's hard to pick just one! Hence the need for repeat visits. Kathy |

Re: POR or POFQ
Yes, that is why we go back so often... to swim in every pool! LOL
The pool area at POFQ is very colorful, with a huge dragon slide as the main attraction. However, once our kids got to be 5 or 6, they were too big to slide down the tongue... they had to inch along. But smaller kids can sail down, no problem. The POFQ also has a couple of bars and fun fountains squirting all around. The pool at POR has a yellow slide that all kids can glide down. There is also a waterfall and a hot tub, plus one of WDW's best bars. There also is a hot tub. Just behind some bushes is an all-sand play area that is not to be believed. POR also has quiet pools elsewhere, for guests who need some privacy. And yes, you can use the pools at either resort. They are really part of the same property, so you can walk back and forth from the pools on a path, or you can take a very short boat ride. The boats dock right at either pool.

I was told POR was more kid friendly. This kind of sounds right to me, since this resort holds families of 5.
But does it really matter if you stay at one you get the use of BOTH> |
