Wilderness Lodge Concierge
I just returned home from South Florida where my husband and I were visiting his parents. My birthday fell on Sunday, March 30th and so to celebrate, my husband and I rented a car and drove up to Orlando. We got a concierge room at the Wilderness Lodge and may I just say that I LOVE it!!!
WL has always been one of my favourite resorts but I've never stayed on the concierge level before. WOW! We got there at 1:00 and checked in and waiting in our room was a little card welcoming the "Rosenrauch Party" and inside was a listing of a "food schedule" and things happening at the Lodge. We unpacked quickly and raced over to the BWalk to meet with our Disney Club rep as we were set to purchase our 350 BCV points on that day. What a birthday present for me! A gift that keeps on giving! Anyway, when we got back to the Lodge, it was cheese and wine time. Wow :dazed There were 6 or seven different cheeses, three kinds of wine, (a blush, a white and a merlot), juices, sodas, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cream of brocolli soup, shrimp gumbo, crackers, vegetables, fruit and those funky little round PB and J crustless sandwhiches which I really took a fancy too. After a huge debate we ended up at DTD at Wolfgang Puck's Cafe for dinner. Awesome! And our server rocked as well. I had Grandma Puck's chicken bolognese with parmasan cream sauce and my husband had the chicken alfredo but requested it be mixed with some tomatoe sauce as he prefers a rosee. He finds pure alfredo much too rich. We also had spinache dip for an appetizer and by the time we were finished I had absolutely NO room left for dessert. That was disappointing as I really wanted to partake in the warm chocolate cake with chocolate fudge sauce and ice cream. Alas...It wasn't meant to be. However, the server took note that it was my birthday and brought out a plate of strawberries and whipped cream and written on the plate in chocolate was Happy B.Day! Very sweet of her. Also, I have to say that Puck's makes one of the best apple martini's I've ever had! We didn't get back to the Lodge in time for cordials and desserts. Disappointing, but we wanted to spend time at Pleasure Island. We went to the Comedy Club and it was ok. They asked for an embarassing incident and my husband volunteered the two times he's been the victim of bird dropping bombing in the World. Oddly enough they couldn't seem to make a funny song out of this. It was okay, but not spectacular. The Adventurer's Club was a huge hit. We'd been there once before. That night, everyone was very on and we had a blast! We stayed for two hours and I drank Samantha's Passion Potion. Yum! So, we got up the next morning and partook in the concierge breakfast. Again, wow. though it is continental, it was quite extensive. Juices, milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bagels, cream cheese, fruit salad, pastries, muffins, cereals....Yay for the apple danishes! Sadly we had to get back to South Florida as my plane was leaving for home on Tuesday (my husband is spending an extra week so I'm husbandless in Canada 'til April 9th).

What a great way to spend a birthday! And DVC too?! Stop, you're killing me!
Great report! Isn't concierge service wonderful!! I've never stayed at WL but your report makes me want to give it a try. So, give me some more details. Is concierge on a particular floor? I assume it is close to the main part of the Lodge?? Is the lounge convenient? What kind of views are available? |

Concierge
Hey there...
Well, first of all, the concierge floor is in the main building on the 7th floor for which you need a key to access. Usually they said that they send someone down to greet you at check in and they take you up to the concierge floor. However, no one was available when we checked in so the woman at the front desk escorted us. When you slip your card key in the elevator the 7th floor button automatically lights up. When you get up there, there's someone to greet you and to take you to your room and they explain all about the concierge food service and what not. There are robes in the room and the bathroom and sinks were all in one place which is not how most rooms are. Usually the sinks are outside of the room where the toilet and shower is. Our room also had a fridge. There are two views for concierge as I understand it. Courtyard and woods view. There was no courtyard left when we checked in so we settled for woods. We're not big on insisting on a view anyway since we are rarely in the room itself. It's not a big deal for us. Ask away...I'm all open to posting answers! :D

Worth the Price
First of all I have to say that we got a fairly good discount for being annual passholders. Either that or, since my husband is from Florida, we get a Florida Resident discount. Normally in peak season a concierge is $435.00 + tax. We got it for $307.00 taxes in. YAY!
But anyway...There's food and drink CONSTANTLY from morning 'til night so...I guess you could almost count in the fact that if you didn't want to you wouldn't have to buy food. The things they put out on that bar are more than substantial, I found. For another, the concierge floor is very very private. It's very quiet and you don't hear any cars since you're up on the 7th level.

Thanks for the details WDWNutCase! We stayed at Poly in concierge and it was more than worth the extra cost. We loved the convenience of the lounge and the location was great. I just hadn't heard many reviews on WL concierge and was delighted to find yours. We're considering it for our Dec. trip. Right now we are probably going to have to stay where the group decides on... it's an extended family trip with my DH entire family! But, in the event that we get to go on our own, we definately want to book at WL... concierge if the discounts are deep enough. Wishful thinking!

Hi, Sorry, but I have another question....:nooo: Our family, gets up in the morning, goes to the pool for a while, then leaves for the parks. Most of the times, we do not come back till the parks close. Also, my family are all adults, so when you quoted $435, was that price for 2 adults. ???????
I suppose it's up to the individual, if you think it's worth the price or not. Of course, knowing my family they will still insist on eating out too. So, that could get pretty expensive, but I'd still like to try it, and make my own opinion. So, far you guys have made it sound quite conveincing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again!!! :) JOANN

I wouldn't pay $435 a night! Ouch, that would hurt the bank acct.! We tried it at the Poly when they were having the Spring Fling rates and got a garden view concierge for only $234 and that was for the whole family. I thought that was a great rate and would pay it again in a heartbeat! I'm with you on that $435/ night rate Joann! I'd have to eat a whole lot of cookies to get my moneys worth!

Nutcase...I love your report! You must have a wonderful husband! Everyday I tell my Dh that we could hop on a plane and spend one night at the Wilderness Lodge...and you did it!
You have given me hope!

That price
Was the cost of the room. You can have children in the room at no extra cost. Adults, however, get a little more sticky.
How long are you staying at WDW? You might consider an annual passport because it will give you hotel discounts. If you're staying fr a week, then the passport pretty much pays for itself. We go two or three times a year and so we never think to buy anything but. Trish, yeah, my husband is pretty darned special. Of course I'd think twice about spending a week on the concierge level. Then again, now that we've bought our 350 DVC points we'll probably stay mainly in the villas. But who knows? See? You can use my husband as an example for yours. LOL Make him feel guilty. :D
