Animal Kingdom vs Wilderness Lodge

Ok, you have chaged my mind. Animal Kingdom over POFQ. Doing some research I have seen that Wilderness lodge is the same price. They both sound great. One main thing for my family is the pool. How do AK and WL pools compare? Any and all info will be great.
Thanks

Re: Animal Kingdom vs Wilderness Lodge

I have only seem WL pool but I remember it being a bit smaller than AKL...AKL pool is huge and has a big slide (so does WL) unfortunatly we didnt take advantage of it as much as we would have liked because it was SO cold!
Check out Deb's Unofficial Walt Disney World Vacation Information Guide - WDW Planning Guide - Walt Disney World they have pictures of both pools!

Re: Animal Kingdom vs Wilderness Lodge

Personally if I were choosing between the two, I would go with Wilderness Lodge. Simply because of its proximity to the MK and the monorail!

I agree with Kim. We loved staying at WL and have only visited AKL to eat dinner and check out the sites. We decided that it was a place that we love to visit but we aren't dying to stay there. You will find a lot of AKL fans on this site so I am sure that you will love either one.

Re: Animal Kingdom vs Wilderness Lodge

Having stayed at both, I think the AKL pool is a bit better than the WL pool. MY DD (12) agrees. You can't go wrong with either resort as they are both gorgeous resorts. I personally like the AKL more because of the animals and the excellent transportation. The WL's transportation isn't as efficient in my opinion.

I haven't stayed at either yet but I've been really checking out WL and its quickly climbed up on my 'To Stay At' list. The resort looks incredible.

Re: Animal Kingdom vs Wilderness Lodge

We've only stayed at AKL, and there's nothing like looking up and seeing a giraffe watching you swim!!! I tell you, you have to experience AKL once. My DS's refuse to stay anywhere else. We did visit WL, and although it was beautiful, I've gotten that feeling from going to a similar resort in Wisconsin Dells. No one has been able to duplicate AKL yet that I know of. Also, WL bussing stops at FW also, AKL goes directly to the parks. My vote, AKL!!!!

AKL. WL is pretty, but AKL is much more affordable, equally as beautiful, and the animals are soooooo cool.

Re: Animal Kingdom vs Wilderness Lodge

I think I prefer Wilderness Lodge, but a lot of that might also be the proximity to Magic Kingdom and because it's on Bay Lake and offers a marina. Both hotels share the same architect and general structure with appropriate theming applied. AKL just seems to be way out there, a feeling shared by the All Stars. AKL doesn't share buses with other resorts, but that's partly because they can't. Side note, the All Stars do not share buses to MK nor most of the time to Epcot. They do share for Animal Kingdom and MGM.

I think they "out there" is part of the theme and having to do with the animals. I like that "other world" feeling you get when you go there. You honestly feel that you are in another country..not near anything. That to me is relaxing. I like the no sharing busses thing too. It makes them very efficient as they are always direct to the place you are going with no stops at other bus stops or other resorts. Makes the ride feel faster to me.

Was at the resort last October, next trip planned 2009
You will not regret your decision to stay at WL. But do ask for a room that will look over anywhere in the place, but the rooftop. We had that. HOWEVER, they have observation decks on each level and you can see the electric parade from each facing the rear of the hote.
