Pop century 50's building

Would anyone recommend the 50's building at the Pop? We've been there once and stayed in the 80's. It was fine, alittle of a walk to the food court but not bad. I read in the passporter that the 50's C building has a nice view of the illuminations, so I thought maybe I would put in a request. We'll be there the end of Jan. Also, is there a chance that any of the pools might be down for renovations? And have they finished the other section (legendary)
yet?
Thanks!

Re: Pop century 50's building

Legendary years do not have a scheduled completion date.

"View of IllumiNations" is a bit of a stretch, but you can definately see parts of it.

I've never stayed on that side of the PC. The 60's are premium rooms (I think an extra $10 a night). The 50's are supposedly a good spot, but many rooms in the 70's and 80's are closer to the buses.

It can't hurt to ask.

Re: Pop century 50's building

We stayed in the 50's buildings last year and loved the location. We found it very close to the food court and transportation area, closer than the premium rooms.
As far as viewing Illuminations, can't help you with that one.

I am staying at Pop next August and have already requested the 50's/Lady and the Tramp building! I heard it's close to EVERYTHING!

Re: Pop century 50's building

We're staying at PC in a few weeks. We THOUGHT we would be camping at FW, and since this was unplanned, I opted not to request a certain area of PC. Honestly, I just want to be surprised rather than go with my normal micro-planning/demands.

As far as the pools go, allearsnet.com is the place to check. They have nothing in the way of pool closures listed for PC. (But if Mickaholic shows up and has an "accident" in the pool, things may change. ).

Cavey, sometimes you render me speechless (and you know how long winded I can be, lol). That is the kind of post that sends people scurring out of the thread wondering if you were kidding or not

To be honest here, that made me laugh so hard I snorted!

In September we were in the 50's section - building one. We were really close to the lobby.

Re: Pop century 50's building

When did it happen that Cavey isn't camping at his beloved FW, but staying at the Pop?

I think we stayed in the 50s building this last time...if we did...we stayed on the back half by the water, and I never noticed IllumiNations, but it was a very peaceful area to have a room in, but the walk was sort of unpleasant...

I'm going right now to get my folder from that stay and see what my room was...

Ok, I have a total of 3 Pop Century folders from this past year. That is cool, isn't it?

But, yeah, we didn't stay in the 50s. Apparently, I made that up. We stayed on the back side of the 70s building!

Thanks for reading this long post about nothing! It's great to back!

I couldn't get the discount package at FW.

Regarding pools, we only used the main pool last time we were at PC. Actually, the kiddie pool was primarily used. The mail pool is very creative, the others are just pools.

Re: Pop century 50's building

We have stayed at Pop twice in the 50's both times, the second by request. It is definitely quiet there. I think you can hear Illuminations more than see it. As for the proximity to the food court and buses, what's a few more steps? You're at Disney!!!

Re: Pop century 50's building

We stayed in the 50's building facing the lake. We enjoyed it!! Very quiet. Walk wasn't bad at all except for the ONE night it rained. Then any of the buildings would have been a long walk! We could see a little of Illuminations but we were on the 1st floor. I've heard that you can see quite a bit from the 4th floor.

Re: Pop century 50's building

Thanks for all the input. I think I'm going to request 50's "c" building 3rd floor.
I just wonder if I would need to call prior to going to request or is January a slow enough month that I can wait until I arrive. What's everybody think?

The best thing to do is to put the request right on the reservation.

Call today and have them add it. "Building C - 3rd floor" is an excellent request. It's short, easy to understand and gives the room planner options to satisfy the request. These types of requests are much more likely to be honored.

You can also send a fax 2 days before you arrive, but I've heard that lately, faxes are being ignored.
