Hey, can anyone tell me about the Disney express to and from the airport? Are my kids goingto like it. Or is this just a bus ride to your resort? Are you totally mushed on the bus. Tell me everything you all know! Thanks everyone and happy new year!!!

p.s. I'm under 100 days until my vacation I never thought I would be this way!!!!!!!!!

Re: Disney express???

It's a Grey-hound style bus, with comfy seats. However, it is just a bus ride. (Maybe if you give the driver an extra big tip, he'll do something magical. )

Re: Disney express???

The bus is very comfy like a Greyhound or charter bus. They do show a movie which can be entertaining for the kids, the characters are in it. It son't be a highlight of the trip, but we didn't consider it boring.

Re: Disney express???

I have never been mushed on the bus. They are rarely full. It is just a basic bus ride, but it is free. That is the only reason we do it.

Re: Disney express???

The movie on the bus is 50/50. It was not working when we went and I have heard some people say the driver did not show it. It is cheap way to get to your resort.

Re: Disney express???

I think its the same bus they used for the transit off the plane with the land and sea transfer packages. The movie was more like a big preview of your trip and it had all sorts of things in it to make you all giddy and excited. But it is more like a commercial than a movie.

Re: Disney express???

so, here is another question. Let's assume that our flight home leaves at 4pm, will they try and accommodate that or do we have to be on the bus by, for example 10, because they only send one bus per day to the airport?

Re: Disney express???

We went in January and there was 1 bus per hour. Our bus left the resort @4 hours before our flight.

Re: Disney express???

Our bus driver didn't show us a movie on the way to the resort. The bus was clean, and it only had 15 or so people on it. For the return to the airport, your resort will give you a letter the day before outlining the proceedure to go back to the airport. They schedule you to leave the resort 3 hours before your flight. Our driver gave us a speech about the need to give to charities at the holiday, the gulf war, etc. He went on for about 15 minutes, I thought I was in church. I'm not exactly sure this is what Disney intended, but I was just glad to arrive at the airport.

My family and I used DE last October when we went down. To WL.
Prettyo efficient. comfortable.
We arrived to Orlando about 1:30PM and to our resort by about 3 or so.
We had a 6;00 pm flight back and bus picked us up by 3. When u use it, the day before you leave, you are given information about return to airport and they make sure you get there more than on time
Pick up your baggage and put it in your room upon arrival to resort. Our baggage also checked onto plane returning home. We dealt only with our carry ons. We would use it again. Only disadvantage, can't stop at any grocery store on way if that is important to you.

Re: Disney express???

We used ME on our latest trip in Nov. The ride to POR was fast. We were the only stop. The bus was full but not uncomfortable. We got to see the movie and our bus driver was energetic and made us feel welcome.

For our flight home, we were picked up 3 hours before our departure time. The only downside was that we stopped at POFQ, SS and OKW for additional pick ups. So the ride to the airport was much longer and we were packed in like sardines.

We did have bell services pick up our bags so we would not have to haul them to the lobby for departure.

I will probably use ME again. But then again, if it's free, it's for me

Re: Disney express???

I did not care for ME. I am one of the few, so you should be just fine. It's just a bus ride to your resort with maybe a welcome video. It depends. i did not get that video. I prefer to get to my resort as soon as possible and prefer to get a towncar instead of waiting in the check-in line for the ME and then in the resort line...then wait till you get on a bus...then the drive to the resort and then wait for your resort. I know I am impatient. This is not a big deal for many people. It was annoying for me.

Thanks to all of you for answering my question!

Dana, I know you didn't like the experience and I am one that likes to get there as fast and as comfortable as possible. I am not sure why, but pinching the pennies on that end sounds like something I might try, but I am afraid
I have, what seems like, a milllion days,to make up my mind on that, thank goodness. And I did love the Quicksilver experience last time we used it.
