what will disney do for us?

We booked our vacation for the week before Easter. We picked POR because of the location and the nice big food court(we plan on staying at the pool alot) Now we see the food court is being fixed over that time and will NOT be open. If we ask will they try to rebook us or do something for us. This might sound shallow of me but if I'm spending this much money I want what I payed for.

I would call. They may offer to put you in a different location if they have a room available (I think that is a pretty busy time) but if it costs more I am sure you will have to pay for it.

I think you have a legitimate reason to make a call and request to be moved to a new resort. You know what I always say, It doesn't hurt to ask!

Re: what will disney do for us?

I think that Disney will try and relocate you if you ask. However I doubt that there will be any type of discount or compensation if that is what you are looking for.

The only one that knows for sure is Disney. And Iam sure they have had this before and will do all they can to make you happy. A call is your best bet.

Re: what will disney do for us?

WL had a rehab on it's CS place a few years ago, and they had a small area serving. Otherwise guests were expected to be going elsewhere.

I think what they'll offer will be limited. Afterall, I'm going when Splash Mt. is closed for a rehab, but I'm not expecting a reduced ticket offer. Same with folks staying at ASMov with a current pool rehab.

The truth is rehabs are part of the "cost" of keeping WDW a world-class destination. And generally they announce them far enough in advance for guests to decide whether or not the rehab is acceptable to them.

Re: what will disney do for us?

We are booked there for March and just got a letter explaining this yesterday. It said they will have limited food for breakfast and dinner and grab and go stuff for lunch. They say that POFQ food court will be there as well as the sit down. There is no offer to do anything else. I assume if you want to switch you are on your own.

Call and asked to be moved to another resort. See if they can upgrade you. They may do it for a small price. It depends on who you get on the phone and what they are allowed to do for you. I don't think you are being shalloow at all. The food court is pretty important when you stay somewhere...you do have to eat. Just call and see what they can offer you, but don't wait. Do it now before everyone else staying there does.

Re: what will disney do for us?

I'm not sure how to link post a link to another thread, but chech out the one about the Food Court Refurb. It explains the buffet will be offered. I agree with Dana however. If you want to move, make sure you call ASAP because LOTS of others will be doing the same.

Re: what will disney do for us?

You need to get on the horn ASAP.

Disney needs to know that this is going to be an inconvenience to you and your family, so they can offer you a fair alternative.

We had the same issue when we made reservations at CBR - the food court was going to be closed - and Disney was very accommodating (to put it mildly ). They gave us an incredible upgrade for virtually no more money.

BUT don't count on that...just make sure you call as soon as possible and explain politely that the food court being open is important to your family. Ask them what alternatives they can offer! I'm sure they will be able to help you out!

I was due to stay at CBR when it got closed completely and was able to get into WL for free. I had to fight for it, but I did get it.

I agree you should call them right away and explain to them what an inconvience this will be for you.

Sending some pixie dust that it works out for you!

Re: what will disney do for us?

I wish you luck, really I do. I see the disney folks being polite but not being able to do much other than possibly offering you an upgrade that you will have to pay for. I pretty much agree with Cavey...in order to keep things maintained properly and at the level expected of a disney resort, things have to close now and then. It's part of the resort business and in a "let the buyer beware" society we are in...the only real obligation disney has they have already met...that is they gave you advanced notice and limited food service will be provided.

That said...call 'em and put the thumb srews to 'em me 'arty!! They may indeed cave in. It's unlikely, but it wont cost much to try it. Good luck!!

Re: what will disney do for us?

Im actually hoping for less in the resort because of it- ok that and Im staying put since we dont have to get two rooms if we stay at POR! That is a huge savings for us! Even from the discount ones.
