Should I switch to POFQ?

I am not even sure we are going to make this trip in March, but, when I booked POFQ was not available over POR and now it is.

Everyone says POR is so big. To me I see the advantages of POFQ to be:
It is smaller
The buses go there first?
The dragon slide looks good for DS7. The pool might be a shorter walk?
The added fact that the POR food court is going through rehab.

I think I would like the decor of POR better but that is not really a priority.

Now, if I do change I am not sure how to do it. I made an internet reservation. Do I have to make a new POFQ ressie and then cancel the POR over the internet or would you just call CRO?

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

I stayed at Riverside last summer and wasn't that impressed, but that's just me and the mods don't thrill me as a class. French Quarter is smaller, so that is something to consider, plus, I see you've already been discussing the food court closure, and you need to keep that in mind as well.

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

Yes, do switch if you can. The buses to stop to pick up drop off first as to the boats to DTD. I like the smallness of that resort as well. The only thing that POR has over POFQ is a sit down restaurant and some extra activites. You can use them all howver as a guest at POFQ.

Call CRO and ask them to change the resort for you. I don't think you will have to actually cancel and rebook. You could just make a change I think.

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

I'd definitely switch.

I always think of POFQ as the moderate with the deluxe feel. Maybe it's just the more intimate size....but the whole resort is just lovely. Beautiful grounds, no long "hikes" to anywhere, just one bus stop, great pool. And I don't know what it is about the rooms - they just seem "roomier".

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

Julie, I like POR much better than FQ. POR isn't really that big at all and the pool is wonderful. I think you would love it there. We NEVER have had bus issues and we have stayed there 3 times. However, if we had reservations and then found out the food court was closed, I would definately switch. I would just call and speak to someone on the phone. Let us know what happens.

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

I think the food court being under renovation is going to be a pain, so if you can get POFQ instead, do it!

It definitely will have shorter walks for you and your family too.

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

My 2 cents may not really count because I haven't done FQ yet, but we stayed at Riverside last year and we almost never do anything but deluxes, and I was very impressed. I'd definitely do Riverside again.

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

Well, we did switch. Yay! They had to make a new ressie and cancel the old, but it all worked out. Now, I just hope it really works out for us to go!

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

hey,
we were suppost to stay POFQ for 2 nights then POR for 4, but were sent to POR on the first night due to overcrowding at POFQ....my son and i loved POR, the staff were great, the walk to main building wasnt too bad, and our room was great. we were in the magnolia building on the last bus stop before the parks and mostly got a seat, but hey standing for 10 minutes isn't too bad....

food court was under renovation but they only shut off a bit at a time, so it didn't really affect anyone.

pools were great, had a few choices.

stayed at contemporary as well, and would definately stay at POR again

have a good one

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

We have stayed at POFQ twice, I really like the pool,if you can get a corner room, ask for it ,it has 2 windows which made the room look bigger, and the food court is not bad,and you can catch the boat to DTD from there as well.

if it were me, I would change olnly because of the food court makeover

Good Luck

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

So am I correct ---in reading that there is a direct bus from POFQ to DTD? I know the boats go from both PO resorts, but I thought certain resorts had you taking a bus to the TTC to pick up the DTD bus!! Years ago there were direct buses to everywhere, but I know that has changed. The only time we ever used to go through the TTC way back when---was to get to places like Hoop de Doo Revue!! Perhaps my mind fails me now, but it seems like each time we go now---they change the bus system!! Smallworld

Re: Should I switch to POFQ?

We got back from our trip Tues. and stayed at POFQ, so I would be glad to answer questions on that resort.
