wireless internet service

I was wondering, does Wilderness Lodge have wireless internet service? We are staying in a studio at the villas.

Not yet according to Allearsnet.
High-Speed Internet Access at the Resorts
I'd call ahead tho. I thought they were getting it pretty soon.

Re: wireless internet service

Well I called the WL and they said they do not have wireless internet service. They do have high speed internet, but it cost $10 a day! Is the wireless internet service free in other deluxe resorts? I stayed at a comfort in this summer and had free wireless service and that hotel wasn't even $100 a night. Disney needs to get on the ball with this one.

Re: wireless internet service

Beach Club/Yacht Club had wireless when I was there in September, but only in the lobby/pool areas. The cost was $10 per 24 hour period, but was not included if you had purchased it in your room, it was separate.

I would agree, I think all Disney deluxe resorts should include it for free. The three Disneyland resorts do, why don't they in Orlando?

Re: wireless internet service

So, how do they restrict wireless internet for only those who pay for it? If I take my laptop somewhere I can pick up wireless networks all around. I really think that the wireless internet should be in all deluxe resorts and should be free. If Comfort Inn can provide it free at $70 a night, certainly Disney can.

You are required to have a password. You can get the signal, and if you open a browser, it will only go to the page that explains costs and takes your money. I have seen the same system in several other hotels around the world. Disney is pretty secure with all their wireless, and there isn't much else around to pick up for free.

Captive audience. We were paying for refrigerators forever, too, if you remember...

Re: wireless internet service

Many hotels charge $10 for broadband internet. I think the Contemporary is now giving complimentary wired high speed service. I think I saw high speed connections available at the two All Stars we stayed at, so I'm guessing Disney's rolled it out to all resorts.

Re: wireless internet service

We've stayed in many resorts over the last few years - Marriotts, Westin and Hiltons - and every single one of them had complimentary internet service - except Disney. As Bali said - captive audience. They know that people are still going to fill the resorts.

We actually filled in a comment card last time we were at OKW - at the suggestion of a manager - but I highly doubt the policy will change.

Re: wireless internet service

When we stayed at VWL last summer we got internet access for 2 days of the 10 day stay. At $10 a day it really adds up.
I hope they will go to complimentary internet access eventually, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: wireless internet service

You can play little games staggering your 24 hours. Use one full day and then don't log back on until a full 24 hours have passed since your first full day. Sure it adds up, but hotels also charge for extra long dial up calls to AOL and the like also, and those calls can get as expensive or more expensive than the flat $10 if your dial up number is outside the hotel's local dialing area.

Re: wireless internet service

We stay at the Swan and you have to pay for internet there too. Surprising seeing as it's known to cater to conventions and businessmen.

Re: wireless internet service

I've stayed at Doubletrees and Marriotts where I've been charged as well.

DDoll, are we passing in the night again? Will you be making Caveyfest?
