There is nothing like staying on-site

I got back from Disney last Thursday staying at the All-Star Music. I just want to say that there is nothing like staying on-site,even if for only 2 nights. The feeling I got each morning when I woke up was just indescribable. People,if you can swing it,you just really should stay on-site when you come down.

I totally agree with you, I know my DH and I have been staying on Disney property for years now. Only once did we stay on Hotel Row, and I would not do it ever again!!! QUOTE] Just a bad experience, that is with the transportation. :( This vacation in May , we will be back at the CSR. Can hardly wait!! JoAnn

When I was a kid my mom took me to WDW and we stayed off site. Of course this was before it was the sprawling compund that it is now. Even then I kind of remember it being a hassle to get into the MK everyday.

Absolutely 100% agree. This was our first on site visit and we will never stay off site again! My parents had taken us many times and stayed off site when we were younger because of $$ but after staying this time with us on site they are sold that it is worth it. That is huge because my dad is well, um, thrifty (or as I call him tight) and he raved about it!

I also remember staying off-site when I was a child. We had six in our family, so I believe it was the only way my parents could afford it. They had different priorities. And they didn't have access to the discounts we have today. We were simply thrilled to be going to Disney!

I think my priorities are they same now that I am semi-grown up and have children of my own, but we just sacrifice. We don't go out to dinner often, I cut coupons, and we save our pennies.:D I feel vacations are important. We all deserve it! And gosh darn it...if I am eating mac & cheese everyday to pay for a vacation, I am staying ON-SITE!!!:laugh :)

I'm right there with you!! That, and Taco Bell has some pretty cheap meals to get you by...hehehe!:laugh  Seriously, there is *nothing* like staying onsite. There's just that *magic* that you can't get anywhere else. I couldn't believe the change in ourselves and our love for Disney after we first stayed on site! It's the best!

For those of you who pinch pennies to stay on-site,do that literally. Have everyone in your family put all their change each day in a big jar. Count it up at least once a month, convert it into dollars, and put it in the bank. You will be greatly surprised at how much it adds up. I have been putting my change in a jar since Feb.3rd of this year and I already have almost 37 dollars in it. At that rate, when I have to renew my AP next year,I won't have to lay out that much money for it.

Good advice Mickaholic!:) Any other tips out there? Seriously, I'm always looking for ways to save money. I'm not very creative when it come to money matters. I read somewhere - I think it was on this site - that if you decide where you want to stay and when you want to go - get the room rates and ticket prices off of the Disney.com site because those are the highest, and - say if it's 12 months prior to your vacation date - you divide the cost by 12 and that determines how much money to save each month.

Anyway it was someone else's advice, but I thought it was worth repeating.

And - keeping with the topic - I've stayed both one and off property, and I can tell you that when we stayed off property - it definitely felt like something was missing. On-property is the only way to have the complete WDW experience. :)
