Icon5 Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

Hey Guys! Sorry if this has already been covered recently. I am in the middle of packing for our trip and don't have time to read through all the threads. I'm wondering what the going rate for mousekeeping tips is right now? We will be staying in a cabin and they will have 7 people to clean up after each day. I'm wanting to go ahead and stuff my daily mousekeeping envelopes now, to save the hassle of scrambling for cash each morning.

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

We tip $2 per person per day. If the room is really bad, will go to 3 or 4 per day.

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

I usually tip $1 per person and leave the tip per day. For great service, I just leave $5 per day (there are only two of us) and for exceptional service, I made leave a little extra at the end of the trip. Just remember to leave it out every day clearly marked "housekeeping". You may have different mousekeepers through out your trip and you want to make sure you aren't giving someone else's tip to someone else.

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

Now I feel horrible, cause never really thought about the $ per person. We always just left however many extra dollars we had laying around. I'll pay more attention next time.

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

I generally leave $5 per day at the end of our stay. I'm fairly sure most housekeeping staff share tips, because they all cover each other's rooms during the week. That tip is for 2 adults. As a comparison, I think the recommended/expected tip on a cruise is $3.50 per day for housekeeping per person and again $3.50 per person for your waiter. For your average 7 day cruise this would be $50 for room and $50 for meals.

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

my son had an idea that he would fold them all into oragami shaped bills before hand and do $5 for the connecting rooms of 5 on the beds- I dont have much in the way of them to pick up as I do that before we leave the room and we have had horrible experiances so I only leave a tip after a good job and not before one

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

I prefer housekeeping to not come into the room. I just want clean towels, & trash emptied if needed (which isn't often as we aren't in the room much)that's really it. I want to make the bed myself so I can use my blankets & pillows. I've always been like that about housekeeping, not sure why!

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

$1 - $2 per person, depending on how bad it is (we're pretty neat though). We always leave it each day, rather than at the end of the stay, because you may get a different person on different days.

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

The last time we went to WDW (2004) we stayed at the ASMovie resort and I had the kids decorate some envelopes with stickers. We clearly marked the envelopes with "Mousekeeping" and left them in a noticeable spot. They were never taken!! I ended up just taking them back. I didn't want to take the chance of them being just thrown away after we had checked out.
I might try again this trip.

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

There is usually myself, Dh, DD ( 4 years nearly) and MIL in our room and we leave $2 per day plus a bit extra at the end of the vacation.

Re: Going Rate for Mousekeeping Tip

I am going soon also and have started to decorate my Mousekeeper Tip Envelopes. There is just DH and myself. So when you say $1 per person per day that would make it only $2 per day. Or do you mean $1 per cleaning person. Because how do you know how many people are going to clean the room each day?
