Please Help Pick Resort For Are Aug. Stay @WDW

I am so happy! We will be taking our 3year old DS to WDW for the 1st time in Aug. I so love DW, but do not get to go as often as I would like. We are doing the whole Disney package thing and would like to stay at a different resort then we have all ready stayed at. We are leaning more for the moderate price range. Here is my problem, I can't make up my mind!!! I like the luxury of the newly remolded contemporary and my DS loves trains. Now my DH likes the price of value to moderate. And I would love to make it super fun for my 3 almost 4 yr old DS. So I like the look and feel of the All star movies Toy Story wing for him!
Oh, and I forgot to mention this will be the first family Vacation for us. My DH has been away for the past 2 yrs on deploment with the Army!!
So if all you wonderful people could help, and tell me what you think? So please send some pixie dust my way, to plan the ultamate WDW Vacation!

Re: Please Help Pick Resort For Are Aug. Stay @WDW

Hi! I'm going in August as well and I cannot wait !! If you have your heart set on a moderate resort, I have stayed at both the Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs and have loved both of them. They are pretty spread out so if you don't get a preferred location room then long walks could be in your future.

Now, if you would be willing to save yourself some money and try a value resort then POP Century is the way to go. We have stayed there 3 times and have never been disappointed. Again, ask for a preferred location and you'll be near everything. The theme is perfect for small children and pretty much the only thing you don't get from a value resort vs. a moderate resort is a full service restaurant (which we don't seem to miss ).

I hope my two cents helps. Good luck in your planning.

Port Orleans FQ was great! We really liked it when we stayed there in 2000!!! It really reminded me of New Orleans where we Honeymooned!

We have ALMOST the same dates! I am arriving at Pop on 8/26 and checking out on 9/2. I will be staying 3 nights off site before my POP stay, though.

Be on the lookout for FREE DINING! It *should* get announced at the end of March/early April.

As for which resort, do you have any preferences? Have you stayed in any moderates? Would you consider a Value to save money? I have heard NOTHING but awesome things about POP, which is why we are trying it in December.

What are your tastes? We really liked POR & FQ, I have heard wonderful things about POP. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is unlike anything else in this world, and the Wilderness Lodge is loved by many.

The only moderate we've stayed at is POR and we like it so much we've now been 3 times.
I just love it! In fact just today my BIL let us know that they're coming to visit in Aug. and want to go to WDW. They want to stay at the Swan, but I'm going to try to push POR (again!)

We have only once & stayed at the Poly, but it was expensive. My friend at work is going in August & she refuses to stay anywhere but Coronado Springs. She says they have the best food court and that was great for her two boys. I don't know how helpful this was but she swears by it.

Okay coronado spring is a conf. center. So I wouldn't stay there. All I've heard are great things about POR. This place is big and you can find a place for your self. Great food court and something for everyone.

Re: Please Help Pick Resort For Are Aug. Stay @WDW

If she said she doesn't want to stay at French Quarter again, why bother to recommend it?
On the other hand, how much do you want to spend for a room. The deluxe resorts are actually value season most of the summer while the others are regular season. How close do you want to be to what parks?
Personally, I didn't much care for Caribbean Beach and POR, they're too spread out for my taste. Depending on how you answer the above questions, I'll be able to recommend something. With over 20 Disney resorts on property, there is something for everyone and you don't have to repeat.
